Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Part of the "Pull Ahead Books-Mighty Movers" series, this title very simply explores garbage trucks. Large color photographs dominate every page accompanied by easy-to-read and understand text. The most obvious features of garbage trucks are researched. Readers will learn the parts of the truck—the blade, cab, hopper, and lever. Other items will be discovered such as a garbage truck's ability to load cans from the back and the side and its ultimate destination to a landfill. Recycling trucks and recycling plants are discussed with photographs as well. Key words are printed in bold and defined in a glossary at the end of the book. Words such as "honk," "screech," "plop," "kerplunk," "vrr-oom" are used to add action and energy to this simple book. Additional interesting facts as well as an index are included in the back of the book. This book is a terrific addition to any young person's or pre-school teacher's library. 2005, Lerner Publications Company, and Ages 2 to 6.
