A friend gave me a copy of 'Gardening in Eden for Christmas.' Being more of a garden enthusiast and less of a reader, I wasn't too excited. But these cold nights have been pretty quiet, and so I picked it up. What a surprise. This author captures all the beauty and pleasure of gardening that us earth worms are denied waiting for our world to thaw out! So, all you other gardeners who are counting the days til spring, get a copy of this book to help you pass the time!

This is a not a how-to gardening book (though I think every gardened, amateur to expert, will love it as a manifesto of their passion); rather it is a bok that will resonate deeply with every one who has ever felt even a momentary sense of wonder about the world around them--a flight of birds, the falling of snow, the cycle of the seasons. Gardening in Eden is, at is core, a celebration of life, a paean to the extraordinary world at our doorstep that in the hustle and bustle and rush of our lives we so rarely stop to notice. 'There is nowhere recorded a simple and irrepressible satisfaction with the gift of life,' wrote Henry David Thoreau. Well, here it is! Read it; enjoy it; read it again; pass it along to a friend; give it as a gift. This is truly a gem of a book!
