A host of picture books join previously published partners. The irresistible dog pals of the Misadventures of Gaspard and Lisa series return in two more books by Anne Gutman, illus. by Georg Hallensleben. In Gaspard and Lisa: Friends Forever, Gaspard tells how, when Lisa first arrived as a new student in his class, he didn't like it that everyone said they looked like brother and sister (all the other students are human). But when Lisa won the relay race for his team, they became fast friends. In Lisa in the Jungle, Lisa is jealous that Gaspard went sailing on his summer vacation, while she only went to the pool. So she makes up a story about visiting her uncle in the jungle. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
Gaspard and Lisa have been friends for a long time...a year! But when they met on the first day of school, things didn't go so smoothly. Everyone thought they looked alike but they didn't think so at all. The other children in the school made fun of them and Gaspard and Lisa didn't like it at all. But when they were getting ready to race on the playground, Gaspard was forced to pick Lisa for his team. Lo and behold, Lisa won the race for the team. From that point on, Gaspard and Lisa were the best of friends. This book is a nice addition to the corpus of books on friends and friendship and young children, in particular, will find it very satisfying. It is a bit jarring for adults, and maybe children, to have the characters of Gaspard and Lisa as dogs when the rest of the characters are human. Nevertheless, the illustrations are rich and appealing and sure to delight its audience. 2003, Alfred A. Knopf, Ages 3 to 8.

My name is Bri and I am fourteen I got this book because it reminded me so much of when me and my friend Kaylee first met! This book is cute for the young and old and I gave it to my friend when she turned sixteen. Now we have a cute memory, this is a sweet book and has a cute moral to it! Read it and find out for yourself!!!! Thanks,Bri
