Overview

Proper young ladies in the 1920s don't get dirty, and they certainly don't get into fights. But Colleen's favorite uncle has died under mysterious circumstances, and she wants answers. When a sinister cult comes after her, she pushes back - hard.

Soon she's running for her life, hunted by the cult of Katharis and aided by a secret government agency. It will take all of her courage, all of her strength, and every steam-powered weapon she can devise to keep her alive long enough to unravel the mystery of her uncle's death.

The cult thinks she knows her uncle's secrets. They'll do anything, hurt anyone, to make her talk. But they've made a grave mistake. Colleen is going to take the fight to them, again and again, until the people she cares about are safe - or have been avenged.

This is a cute story, but I think I missed at least 1 chapter between 4 and 5. A lot of stuff missing. I would be game to try others in then series.

    Okay

Not really steampunk, and very short. There's good action, but it's a little too detailed. Character development is okay for a short novel, but not great as characters seem to blur together a bit. I'll probably continue with the series. :)

    Entertaining and Easy to Read

This is a fast and fun little book that pulls the reader through a few quick adventures. I understand this is only the first book in a series, but this one didn't have much to do with Lovecraft of the Cthulhu Mythos. Still, it is an entertaining story and worth the short amount of time it takes to read it.

    Good Story

I am not really sure how this is "Steampunk" other than a character much out of place in her own time with streaks of independence and a penchant for mechanical tinkering, but it is a very interesting tale, nonetheless. Time is set for the early 1920's, which has absolutely no bearing on the story whatsoever, except for the afore-mentioned character displacement. Could have taken place in any time, so perhaps this story needs more of whatever would make it "Steampunk." Still worth a read- this author has a lot to offer and weaves a good tale.
