About the Author

Gillian Ford is a Master of History student who lives in Caloundra, Queensland, on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. She was born in Northampton, England, and emigrated with her family to Christchurch, New Zealand in 1961. In 1964 she went to NSW, Australia to attend college, where she met her future husband, Dr Desmond Ford. Her husband Desmond is a minister, teacher, author and educator. They married in 1970, subsequently living in Altrincham, Cheshire, where Desmond obtained a PhD from Manchester University before returning to Australia. In 1977, they moved to California where they lived for 23 years until their return to Queensland. Gillian has three stepchildren: Elenne Ford Lohrisch, and Paul and Luke Ford.
Gillian was a hormonal health educator from about 1982 until 2002 and most recently worked with Dr. Robert Fredericks of Reno, Nevada for about four years. She wrote her book What's Wrong With My Hormones? which was expanded and published in 1997 as Listening to Your Hormones. Gillian retired as a health educator when she returned to Australia and went to university where she completed a graduate certificate in health informatics and a graduate diploma in local, family and applied history, before working on her Master of History at the University of New England.
