This is a wonderful military biography on a true cavalry commander. Unlike those who have recieved fame and glory before him, Confederate Cavalry General J.E.B. Stuart among them, Union Cavalry General John Buford finally recieves due credit for his contributions to American history. From his early days out on the western plains to his famous stance at Gettysburg, Buford is well represented through this book. He is an unknown soldier to history, but this is the first attempt, by a biography, to award the man credit. This book is an easy and wonderful read. If you are even remotely interested in the Civil War, or you would wish to know how a 'true' cavalry commander operated, then you should look no further.
