Editorial Reviews

G. Robert Mason
This fifth edition is an encyclopedic coverage of general thoracic surgery. The purpose is to present comprehensive coverage of the ever expanding field of general thoracic surgery. The book is both conceptually and functionally distinct from its competitors and is exceptionally well done. All those interested in non-cardiac thoracic disease will find areas of this book to be of use. The editors are very credible authorities, and many of the contributors are very well known nationally and internationally. As mentioned above, the editors seek encyclopedic coverage of non-cardiac thoracic surgical disease from anatomy through diagnostic methods and treatment alternatives. Illustrations, largely radiographs and black-and-white graphic illustrations, are adequate. This is a rather unique book in its field for depth, breadth, and quality of coverage. The field continues to develop rapidly and new editions are well justified.
