Editorial Reviews

Curriculum Connections
Gr 2-6–A reissue of the simply told, beautifully illustrated life of the legendary and ruthless Khan, who became the leader of Yakka Monguls at the age of nine and by the time of his death in 1227 was the "master of the largest empire ever created in the lifetime of one man."
Foreword Magazine
This is a most unusual picture book. Not so much for reading out loud, it's more for intensive study of how to shoot an arrow from horseback. Or, the facial expressions of camels. Or, battle formations on the plains. Or, the nature of leadership, power, loyalty. That's without mentioning the story of the man who conquered more territory than anyone before or since. And we haven't even come to the illustrations. Like Persian miniatures, shining with gold and the watercolors of the steppe, Demi's illustrations conquer hearts of all ages.
