    Great Atlas--Super Value

This atlas would be bargain at twice the price (or more). Perfect for my middle-school geography-bee son as it contains a wealth of info in addition to great maps. Fantastic quality hardback. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

    About Uruguay

Reading information about my country I've noticed that is not only 'poor', but some data is 'weird' and 'wrong'. To be exact, when you mention the 'ethnicity' you say 88% European descendant, 8% mestizos (caucasian and indian descendant), 4% black. My concern is about 8% mestizos... what are you talking about? In a country there are NO indians (they were killed more than 150 years ago), what kind of 'indian' are mixing with caucasians to make mestizos? It's ridiculous. If you say we have mulatos (a black and white mixture), I understand, if you say we have some mestizos (from our neighbour countries such as Paraguay (guaranies), Bolivia, Peru, I also understand... Even if you say we have Mestizos meaning 'mixed', I understand too, because there certain people, with darker skin, who could be confused as mestizos (even though most of their facial features are caucasian and they have European ancestors as well as Middle East ancestors) I tell you... I still understand... But... 8% Uruguayan mestizos... indian descendants???... Give me a break!!! It makes me laugh. I tell you more, some of our indians, indeed 'survived' the 1831 'Salsipuedes' massacre, but, how many of them are we talking about, 200, 100??? (because our indians were calculated as a total of 500 approximately, before the killing. And how many of them mixed with Europeans (100, 50)???... Women and children that survived, were taking by foot, more than 200 km to Montevideo as 'slaves'. Do you think many of them survived that 'walking distance'... specially children, with no defense... and with all the European diseases??? And, from that amount of people do you still think we can get 8% of a 3 million population? Now, it will be very interesting to know,in which group are you including our mulatos... we have a lot of them. I wonder where 'your experts' got their masters??? Or is that article a joke? I tell you, I am furious for such an ignorance!!! And, I don't know much about Statistics or Math... but 'common sense' and a little knowledge of my country's history, indicates me that you are dead wrong!!! Ah... sorry for my English mistakes, at least I don't have a master in it!!!

    Comprehensive

This is much more than an atlas, it contains a wealth of information. The format is very reader-friendly. It is very colourful and printed in glossy paper, so the kids will love it. Definitely worth every penny. Best atlas i have ever bought.

Must-have Reference book for ages 5 to 100

This book is phenominal! Even if you are not a geography buff like me, you'll love this because: 1. For a start, 600+ pages is quite a work-out physically before you even open the book! 2. Beautifully comprehensive treatment of the earth: information, atlas, country profiles, and more! Best format I have ever seen. 3. From adults to kids, great to learn from without having to sit in front of a computer and keep on clicking... At this price, I felt like I was paying for the paper, the printed stuff is free. What a bargain, it is better than similar books priced 3-4 times more (and I have searched many books and own a few smaller books like this). Gift the World to your kid or yourself today!!
