Guinea pigs need space, and the only way to go is DIY homemade cages or pens. Starter kits that claim they are the "perfect size for guinea pigs" are actually not enough room for our furry friends. Cubes and Coroplast, otherwise known as C & C cages, are connectable grids and corogated plastic 'trays' that are used by thousands of cavy owners and are the best choice for your pet. Some benefits include:
• More space! The minimum cage size for a piggie is 3 feet x 2 feet, but you can go bigger! Benefits of more space are many - piggies have a lesser chance of devoloping health issues, they are much happier, there are no chances of two males fighting over space, there is more room for all of his accesories.....there are so many more! Shall I go on?
• Healthier! Like I said above, guinea pigs are much healthier in these cages. Why? Because he is not smushed between his potty corner and his food, and he doesn't have to constantly stand by his potty corner - that can make anybody sick! Small, closed-in cages are unhealthy because there isn't a lot of oxygen and air circulating around which can really cause germs.
