Overview

The Sisters Eight are back in a new adventure! This time, Georgia gets her chance to be the hero—if she doesn't completely mess things up!

In the first two installments of the Sisters Eight, we met the sisters (octuplets) and their eight cats. We discovered Mommy and Daddy disappeared (or died) and that to find out what happened to them, each girl must discover her power and gift. Annie and Durinda both found theirs. We also learned that the girls' nosy neighbor The Wicket is very interested in what Mommy was working on before she disappeared (or died).

In this, the third book, the plot thickens: Mrs. McGullicudy, the girls' teacher, is AWOL, and the substitute teacher is too beautiful to be believed (in your narrator's humble opinion.) Does her beautiful facade hide an evil soul? (These are books. Of course it does.) And Georgia makes a blunder that could keep the girls' from ever finding their parents. Are the Sisters Eight doomed to live alone forever?

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Baratz-Logsted and Co.’s intrepid octuplets return for the third installment in this eight-part series (Annie’s Adventures, 2009, etc.) . . . Weber’s humorous sketches aptly capture the more comical elements of the story. This strong follow-up leaves the Sisters 8 and readers poised and eager for their next adventure."—Kirkus Reviews

What Readers Have to Say:

"I loved this book! I didn't think I would like this series but I can't stop reading these books!"—Olivia, age 8

"I really liked Georgia's Greatness because it is full of adventures and magic it always sucks me into the book."—Sylvie, 9

Children's Literature - Elizabeth Fronk
A rainy March finds the Huit sisters wondering when the rain might stop. This story is the third adventure in the Sisters 8 series and it is Georgia's turn to receive her gift and her power. Georgia receives a jeweled compact and discovers her power with the help of her cat: she can become invisible! At first, Georgia sees nothing good about her gift or her power. When the girls return to school on Monday, they discover that a beautiful substitute teacher, Ms. Harkness, is stepping in for their teacher, Mrs. McGillicuddy. At first, Ms. Harkness appears out of a fairy tale as she leads the students into endless recess and planning for a parade. After Mrs. McGillicuddy remains absent for an entire week, the Huit sisters become concerned. The girls have a rather formidable foe in Ms. Harkness, but Georgia's power helps the sisters rescue their beloved teacher. This book, like the others in the series, could benefit from more focus on the narrator and the mystery of the missing Huit parents. Readers in second or third grade and those who enjoyed the first two books of the series can look forward to Georgia's story. Reviewer: Elizabeth Fronk
Kirkus Reviews
Baratz-Logsted and Co.'s intrepid octuplets return for the third installment in this eight-part series (Annie's Adventures, 2009, etc.). Relying on equal measures of cleverness and courage, the Huit siblings need to discover their individual secret powers in order to unravel the mystery behind their parents' disappearance. Here the authors revitalize their story line with a tale about the slightly cantankerous third sister. When Georgia receives her special gift at the beginning of the month-rather than its end-the feisty miss impetuously returns it to parts unknown. Her exhilarating adventure involves missing teachers, a diabolical substitute and a nefarious relative, culminating in a daring rescue that requires Georgia's newfound ability to disappear at will. Some previously flat and one-dimensional characters take on greater depth and expand the girls' stable of allies. Weber's humorous sketches aptly capture the more comical elements of the story. This strong follow-up leaves the Sisters 8 and readers poised and eager for their next adventure. (Fiction. 6-10)
