Long on photos, short on substance

While this book exhibits a number of excellent photographs, information about the Nazi period hats (and a few helmets) is sorely lacking. For serious collectors this book rates elementary as any sort of serious reference. A tremendous number of hats are totally missing from this book, including many SS, SA, etc. What is pictured is fairly basic stuff with only a few exotic or rare examples. The only hat connected with a Third Reich personality is the Goring hat at the back of the book. Fortunately, there are a number of other books available on this subject for the serious collector that offer much more detailed information...and at a lesser price. German Headgear In World War II is fine if your primary interest is in looking at pictures of someone else's modest hat collection. Overall, a 'not-much' book.
