Overview

I first met Geronimo in the summer of 1904, when I acted for him as interpreter of English into Spanish, and vice versa, in selling a war bonnet. After that he always had a pleasant word for me when we met, but never entered into a general conversation with me until he learned that I had once been wounded by a Mexican. As soon as he was told of this, he came to see me and expressed freely his opinion of the average Mexican, and his aversion to all Mexicans in general.

Doesn't translate well from the early 20th century. As autobiography, it's very sparse, only 73 pages. Offers only the briefest look at this violent leader.

Geronimo survived to tell this, that is the most amazing part...

This is a wonderful book and is very interesting to learn so much about Geronimo's life and personality. A great read for for junior high kids.

My daughter was doing a school report on Geronimo and the Apache Indians. This little book proved to be both interesting and informative. A little hard to understand for a fourth grader, but she really enjoyed the fact that she was reading the written word of a historical figure.
