Jet's Get Born is a seriously rocking album that comes off as a mix between the White Stripes' bluesy insouciance and AC/DC's cockeyed swagger. Toss in some New York Dolls strut, maybe some of Sweet's jailbait philosophizing, definitely some of Oasis' look-at-me attitude, some of the Verve's sense of grandeur, and you've got something to impress your friends as you blast it out of your car speakers on a Friday night. There are a lot of other bands traveling a similar path these days and it is hard to explain why this record works so well when so many others sound weak and studied. Maybe it is because they hail from the no-nonsense Australian rock tradition. Maybe it is the tough but clean production by Dave Sardy. Most likely it is the songs. They are catchy with singalong choruses, with lots of "hey"s and handclaps and glam stomp beats. "Rollover D.J.," "Get What You Need," and "Get Me Outta Here" are tight, raw, and flashy rockers. It is a sure sign that you are dealing with a band that has it all together when the ballads are as good as the rockers. "Look What You've Done" is a piano-based weeper that only needs some swelling strings to launch it into Guns N' Roses territory, "Move On" is an early-'70s Stones country ballad with some fine slide work. The only track that really falters is the silly and mean-spirited "Cold Hard Bitch," which takes an ill-advised trip down Nazareth lane and leaves the listener with a foul taste in their mouth. The placement of Get Born's sweetest ballad ("Come Around Again" right after it is the only thing that saves the album. And it is an album worth saving. Get Born is a very promising debut by a band that steals from all the right places, rocks non-ironically -- even epically at times -- and sounds great blasting out of a car or on headphones.

Aw, yeah -- they're dirty, sweet, and they're our boys. (B+)

Jet is the best band that has come along in a while, I was really impressed. Instead of liking eight out of twelve songs (like I usually do) I loved ALL of them.

I really enjoyed the whole album, but I gotta say, Cold Hard B---- is a great rocking song for letting off Friday-night steam on a Tuesday afternoon.

Jet has definately pulled the Rabit out of the hat with this C.D. Get Born is sure to satisfy with its combined classic and new age rock sounds. I bought this C.D. thinking that I was just going to put it on my shelf like every other C.D. I buy and be happy. Jet owns my C.D. player now. Ever since I bought Get Born it has been in my C.D. Player. I wake up to Jet and I fall asleep to Jet. Definately a must have C.D. Enjoy

With so many bands surfacing out there it is hard to find bands who really rock. Jet has entered the international music scene as being one of the best new bands this year, reminisent of the the beginning success of The Vines. There is a good sharing of fast and slow songs, but different from many bands, Jet's slow songs are at times more rock filled then some of the faster songs. Some of the best songs include: Rollover DJ, Get What You Need, Look What You've Done, Come Around Again, and Timothy.

I bought this CD a few weeks ago while only having heard "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" on the radio. Ever since, I've been playing it nonstop. This CD is incredible! Jet's garage-band, balls-out rock is exactly what we need to hear more of. Incredible variety from slower ballads ("Timothy," "Look What You've Done") to high-energy craze ("Get Me Out Of Here"). Get this CD right now and you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!

I really loved "Look what you've done". The extremely potent Beatle flavor attracted me. I thought it would easily be my favorite song, but to my astonishment it was blown away by "Move On" and "Come Around Again". Its a solid cd, but the ballads are incredible.

My name is maureen, and I was so psyched when i first heard "are you gonna be my girl" on the radio. It was the return of rock, a new old form of the art. The entire album was approached as such by the band, a return to the pure roots of rock. This is truly an outstanding piece of work, and if you call yourself a music lover you must check out Jet.

This album is a refreshingly simple bit of straight ahead rock and roll, with no B.S. attached. Jet's influences are wide and varied, and there's a little something for everyone. In addition to the obvious AC/DC, there's a little Faces, a little stones, and a generous helping of T.Rex. Comparisons to the White Stripes are expected in this day and age, but it would be wise to remember that the media darling White Stripes didn't invent low-fi garage rock. It's been bubbling away under the surface for the past few decades like molten lava. Following that analogy, this album is a little taste of old Pompei. By the way, Tim Sendra's review is trying to be a little too PC. "Cold Hard B****" is a pretty good song. How come the Allanis Morisettes of the world can do all the man-bashing they want, but when some male artist calls a b**** a b****, he's some sort of misogynistic Neanderthal? News Flash to Sendra: B****s DO exist, and they deserve any come-uppance they get. Take your overly sensitive, New Age, "mean-people-suck", political correctness to a folk music coffeehouse, Bub. This is Rock and Roll, and Rock has NEVER been PC!

Perhaps it is unfair to simply label Jet as a garage rock band. After all, this album holds a lot more variety than say, The White Stripes' Elephant does, or either of the The Strokes' albums. But unlike the Stripes, who manage to make great blues based rock and roll, Jet just sounds like 15 bad cover bands rolled all into one gigantic csupergroup. Are You Gonna Be My Girl is the song that is currently garnering radio airplay, not to mention all sorts of critical acclaim. Cause I'll tell you, Are You Gonna Be My Girl is only the beginning of the greatness and the originality to be found on this disc. The only thing that is bearable on this entire album is Rollover D.J., which while as derivative as the rest of the album, at least has a big fun chorus attached to it, and some nice jangly guitar rhythms. Alas, other than this, its all downhill.

So how many of us have longed for a true contribution to the dying legacy that was once true rock. With rap and metal emerging upon the "modern rock" world, it's a wonder why Jet hasn't come of age sooner. This band combines catchy complicated harmonies with an edge, and still manages to have some amazing balads, it's everything a 70's rock lover needs, all in one album. Do it... do it now!

Best rock and roll debut since Definitely Maybe. Pure class from top to bottom.

This debut album from Jet is one of the best debut albums I have ever bought. There is not a song that is bad; you won't want to skip any of the 13 tracks. The album starts off with some fast tracks, but then does a great job to slow it down for awhile with several slower songs, in which you can listen to their amazing vocals. These four Australians' captivating vocals, lyrics and music will have you listening to this wonderful album over and over again!!

Gotta buy this CD if you like Mod!I love Nic Cesters voice SO much. My two most faveourite songs are,"Timothy" and "Cold Hard B*****". I don't know why I like "Timothy" so much, but that's the kind of person I am,I usually like what other people don't. The CD is right up my alley, but I don't know about my parents...

It was absolutely INCREDIBLE! Every song on this cd is original and different from the other.

I have to disagree with the main reviewer above...the song 'Cold Hearted B****' is actually my favourite song on the whole CD! Its just a great rock n roll song. This is a good album. It has the rockers like the hit single 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' and the upcoming 'Rollover DJ'...and the quieter songs like 'Radio Song'. The only let down for me was that the last couple of songs are both softer; I'd have prefered a loud ending. But I would say that, while this wont win any album of the year votes, it is a good solid record and contains many good time rock n roll. If you like stuff like The D4, get this CD.

JET RULES!! Reviewer: Tal E Wacka from Olympia, WA United States Jet is the best band to come out of austrailia. Well, along with AC/DC. But they still rule. This cd has some awsome songs like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" and "Roll Over DJ" that make a person just get up and start singing. If you buy this album, you won't have any regrets, well I know I don't.

I heard "Are You Gonna be My Girl" on an iPod commercial (which, by the way, definately helped me decide to get the iPod) a few months before the song was even popular on the radio and loved it, so I had my friends take a listen and they loved it as well. Then the song got popular after that and my friends said "Mike, you're a genious" and bought the CD. I havent baught a lot of CD's recently, simply for the reason that I only like two or three songs out of the fifteen or so on the album. But, my friend highly recommended this CD so I bought it. Never before have I had a CD that I could just play from start to finish, liking every one. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes any type of rock. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

I first heard Jet's Are You Gonna Be My Girl on the ipod commercial, and then i got there cd. Now i'm in love with them. Their CD is awesome, it has so many unique songs that are all great, with great lyrics. If you like Are You Gonna be My Girl you'll love the CD.

I first heard JET on SNL. They sounded awesome so I picked up their cd. It is now one of my favorite cds. Although JET has a distinctive sound, their songs range in variety. "Rollover DJ", "Look What You've Done", and "Timothy" are my favorites. JET has to be the best new band that has come out in a long time.

Although the music is original, the singing better than average, the lyrics desperately need help. It's as though the title, along with a few other words, is all you get. There is more than enough repition in verses and the chorus' lack in variation when it comes to word choice per song. Not to say all the songs are alike, I mean there is repition and lack of repition within each song. Now if only Jet could get a pro songwriter to go along with their kick-@$$ bass tunes and guitar solos....

jet rocks in everyway you will ever need. they've got the ballads down just as good as the best rock songs on "get born" too. lazy gun, cold hard b***, get me outta here, and rollover d.j. are some of the best songs that make you wanna jump around and sing along. but move on, come around again, and look what you've done make you just wanna sit down and quietly hum with the rest of the band. it is really good to see a new band that doesn't suck like a lot of new bands out there.

OK!! Let's see.....Jet absoutley rocks!! I first heard about them from the O.C. and so i listened to some of the songs....after about 5 seconds i realized that i needed this cd forever beside me!! Since that great day in November, Jet has rarely let my cd player, either to get in the car with me, or to let one of my friends/family members borrow it!! It's infectious tunes like "Are you gonna be my girl" "rollover DJ" "Timothy" and "Last Chance" are sure to make anyone a true fan from the beginning. If you haven't seen or heard about Jet then you must've been under a rock!! These australian rockers are sure to stay around for a long time. I wake up to Jet and i fall asleep to them at night. My Favorite band since....well EVER!!!
