    good advice to chronically depressed

for me the most beneficial chapter was about isolatiion. I am in my 40's now but have struggled with depression since childhood with lengthy periods of self/induced isolation. and withdrawal. my career is ruined because of excessive absences,, but i am. going to force myself to change. My meds alone cant do it for me.

    Motivating ideas

I like this book because it takes the problems of depression and gives ideas and suggestions for over coming them. I especially like the two author format, one gives you a lay persons view and suggestions while the psychiatrist gives you a more in-depth technical view.

At the very least, it confirms your behavior while depressed. Seems like its pretty much the same across the board for most people...welcome to our club. The messages are push yourself when you can and how to go about that, and then the information about why we have problems with that.

I found it worth while. True to the title.
