Nieuwe Anita--You have to ring a doorbell to enter this squatted hot spot, but once inside it's like drinking in someone's cozy living room. There's a semi circular bar, cheap drinks and plenty of comfy couches. Bands play sets in the larger back room where parties like the Big Lebowski Night--complete with a movie screening, White Russians and even virtual bowling--also occur. You can also catch some of Amsterdam's finest established and new underground bands. The Nieuw Anita is located west, just outside the city center. (Map area A4)
