'Get Saucy' has impressed myself and friends alike with easy to prepare sauces which give a rich and unique flavor to ordinary dishes. Recipes as simple as 'garlic butter' or somewhat richer as 'Gorganzola cream sauce' add generally available ingredients together to form an impressive taste that is both recognizable and elusive, but above all delicious. The best thing about the book is the simplicity of ingredients that work together to form a complex taste. I've tried 5 of the recipes so far, and all of them have taken less than 1 hour to prepare and were great. I got this book as a gift because I had, shall we say, cooking mishaps in the past, and what suprised me is that the sauce recipes are really built for combination with meats, chicken, etc. that compose the meal. For example, the marinades work well to soften meat, and all you have to do from there is cook it by any means (oven, grill, etc). So rather than using recipes that don't seem to make sense when you put everything together, in 'Get Saucy' you can put the effort and excitement into the simple sauce recipes and then do the meat cooking part with basic technique, and not get lost in a giant recipe. If you are not convinced, copy down one of the recipes, try it, and then you'll be glad to have bought the book.

this collection of sauces blows James Peterson's out of the water. These recipes are so accessible and user friendly. Everything I've made so far is just wonderful. Try the Gado Gado (peanut sauce) and Vodka sauce--Oh My God!!

i've never seen a bigger collection of cool and creative sauce recipes--ever. what's even better are the suggested uses, tips and recipes throughout the book that showcase the sauces. Plus the index at the back of the book is so useful to help match sauce with food type. Parisi has really found just about every sauce out there, plus hundreds of intriguing original ones. Worth the money!

I loooooved this book for its sheer choices of a bazillion kinds of sauces. There's pretty much anything and everything you could think of in here. I've tried two recipes so far, and am working on others. I've made the sweet and sour sauce, as well as the sweet chili garlic sauce (or whatever the exact name is -- they're both in the Chinese/Asian section). The only reason I gave "Get Saucy" 4 stars, is because, despite making both recipes to the "t" as instructed, I still had to add more cornstarch to thicken them. But then again, it *could* have been "operator error". Whatever the case, I would still highly recommend this book to anyone. The sweet chili garlic sauce is especially awesome in stir fries. Even on cold leftovers, it tasted YUM. Do yourself a favor and BUY this book. It will become a staple in your collection, a surefire go-to, as it has for me. THANKS to Ms. Grace Parisi for writing it! Being a James Beard Award nominee isn't too shabby, either. :-)
