Overview

A good man is hard to find. . . .

Finding a partner often feels like an awful lot of work for very little reward. The relationship expert Matthew Hussey used to feel the same way. So he did some field research, taught himself to meet the women he was looking for, and built a business coaching other men to improve their love lives. And now he's sharing his insights with you.

It turns out that men and women want the same thing: a lasting, meaningful relationship. Matthew says that finding "the guy" isn't just about finding "a guy." It's about creating a life with someone who engages you at every level. In Get the Guy, Matthew shows you how to be proactive in your love life so that you can meet, talk to, and win over the guy who's right for you—without playing games.

After reading this book, you will not only get the guy, but you'll actually get him. You will understand how men think and what they're looking for. Attracting the right guy is about being confident in who you are and the value you bring to the table—so you can find a guy who's as great of a catch as you are!

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

Matt Hussey's work as a motivational counselor began with group sessions in coffee shops; before long, he was working with Fortune 500 corporations and power-wielding hedge-fund managers. It was only a matter of time before prospective clients sought out his talents as a matchmaker. In Get the Guy, he applies his self-confidence building techniques and insights into male psychology to help women find the mate they want. (P.S. Hussey is one of the relationship coaches on NBC's new primetime reality show Ready for Love.)

Eva Longoria
“Matthew is a genius whose magic needs to be shared with the world. His incredible understanding of love and relationships makes him the absolute best love guru! This book is a necessary tool for anyone looking for love.”
Nikki Bayley
“No crazy gimmicks, no pretending to be something you’re not. Just intelligent, empowering advice.”
Emma Messenger
“Matthew’s methods are working… Those who would previously never dream of going up to a man are hunting them down in double figures. Phone numbers are collected like the spoils of victory… [We become] an army of women from whose charms no man is safe.”
Judith Orloff
“A practical guide to understanding a man’s point of view about love and romance and how a woman can optimize self-esteem and integrity to find the love she deserves.”
Louise Roe
“This works, period. No sugar-coating, no gimmicks, no cheesy lines: Matt’s advice is practical, sometimes blunt, and most importantly, effective. You WILL get the guy after reading this, end of story!”
Bill Rancic
“If you buy this book, you have an unfair advantage over men, and that’s just wrong.”
Giuliana Rancic
“Whether you’re in a committed relationship, or you’ve had little luck with men, this book will unravel your man-mystery and put you in control, which seems fair to me, no matter what my husband says.”
Publishers Weekly
Dating coach and TV personality Hussey (from NBC’s forthcoming reality show, Ready for Love) draws from his popular relationship webinar, GetTheGuy, for this compendium of bite-sized suggestions to help women find, get, and keep “the guy.” Sprinkled throughout are links to digital tie-ins (one directs readers to a video of Hussey demonstrating “the look” that’s meant to grab men’s attention), but most of the advice is mind-numbingly bland—”Love is hard;” “A man gets excited by the idea of having sex with a woman he desires;” and so on. Hussey does offer some practical tips—he insists that “the smallest changes in your daily rituals can yield huge results.” To that end, he explains how to “Get Good at WAR (working a room),” instigate physical contact without coming off as aggressive, make dates more spontaneous and fun, and text a guy to hang out (I’m here doing X, “You should come!”). Hussey occasionally goes into an absurd amount of detail—as when he lists nine reasons a guy hasn’t called, when a simple “He’s just not that into you” would suffice; most readers will likely deem their time better spent in some other scene. Agent: Richard Pine, Inkwell Management. (Apr.)
Library Journal
Relationship expert Hussey here relies upon both personal experience as well as his experiences working as a life coach. His book provides women with advice on meeting men, gaining insight into the male mind, and cultivating a rich, satisfying lifestyle—with or without a partner. While the author offers tips that range from interesting conversation topics to effective texting, above all, he stresses the importance of self-worth. VERDICT Not your mother's dating guide. Excellent for singles.

Highly Recommended - you must check it out!

Amazing book and so is Matthew. I first noticed his videos on YouTube (I'm from Denmark so I haven't really heard of this book before) and it caught me. This is a must-read.

I was pleasantly surprised in how much I could relate to this book. Even though it's titled "Get The Guy", by no means is it just for girls who are single and want to learn how to find a great guy and have a relationship. Matthew's advice can be appreciated no matter what your relationship status is! (I've been in a committed relationship for 2.5 years; I found that the lessons and tips that he gives are extremely useful for my own relationship.)

The book is divided into 3 sections: find the guy, get the guy, keep the guy. Although it's divided into those different stages, the themes remained the same throughout: be a woman of high value, know your worth, be the best person that you can be, know what you want from a relationship (and life!) With those in minds, the dating scene (or in my case, maintaining a strong committed relationship with my bf) will be easy!

I read the book in about 5 days, and my mentality has really changed in terms of my own relationship. For that alone, the book was worth it. I recommend this book to any woman who not only wants to find a great guy and have a successful relationship, but more importantly, who wants to learn how to be the best version of yourself.

    Loved it

I loved this book. This was the first time I read this kind of a book (self-help/relationship). I laughed throughout it because so many things mentioned in the book are true. The book is outlined in a good way, which made it easy for me to read and follow.

    Miracle

This is the relationship bible. It helps you find the guy, get the guy, and keep the guy. Ladies, love is pricless, is it not? This book could cost 10 times more than it does, and it would still be worth every penny. I repeat: this is the relationship bible. Enough said. Period.
