Editorial Reviews

VOYA
Getting dumped isn't a good thing and everyone will go through it. This book has stories of girls who have gone through being dumped and what they felt. The book also gives advice on how to deal with pain and what to do and what not to do when you're hurt. Questions about why you're feeling sad and when you will feel better all are answered here. Girls who have been dumped before, those who haven't yet, and those now going through the hurt of being dumped will benefit from the encouraging words and the stories of other girls' experiences,

Gr 9 Up-Filled with sound advice, unique getting-over-it activities, and real-world commentaries from the dumped (females) and dumpers (males), the book puts a new spin on a time-worn topic. A quick read, it will nevertheless engage readers with its energetic blend of teen-magazine speak and psychology. The topics span the chronology of the average breakup from realization to revenge and beyond. Serious issues such as depression and self-loathing are addressed with care and consideration. A short but sensible passage on sex is sage, being neither preachy nor flippant. A resource section at the end of the book recommends several help lines, additional self-help books, and some top teen novels. After all, when your heart is broken what's better than to curl up with a good book and move on?-Lisa Denton, Oneida-Herkimer School Library System, Utica, NY Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

    a great book for teens

a lot of stuff that's out there for teens right now isn't very good and talks down to kids this book is different, it's not all sappy and actually gives some good advice and stuff that I had never heard anywhere else. I'm not really a 'teen' any more, but I saw this book on a table in the bookstore after my boyfriend and I had broken up and I bought it. I usually don't write recomendations on here, but I looked up the author to see if she had written anything else, or books or adults (she hasn't). My advice to her is WRITE ANOTHER BOOK for grown ups--or just write some other books. I'll read them if you do.
