Gr 9 Up-Filled with sound advice, unique getting-over-it activities, and real-world commentaries from the dumped (females) and dumpers (males), the book puts a new spin on a time-worn topic. A quick read, it will nevertheless engage readers with its energetic blend of teen-magazine speak and psychology. The topics span the chronology of the average breakup from realization to revenge and beyond. Serious issues such as depression and self-loathing are addressed with care and consideration. A short but sensible passage on sex is sage, being neither preachy nor flippant. A resource section at the end of the book recommends several help lines, additional self-help books, and some top teen novels. After all, when your heart is broken what's better than to curl up with a good book and move on?-Lisa Denton, Oneida-Herkimer School Library System, Utica, NY Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
