I knew going into Getting Her Money's Worth that it probably wou

I knew going into Getting Her Money's Worth that it probably would not have a completely happy ending and would be a emotional story. What I did not expect was the humorous moments I found as well. I really enjoyed reading this touching story about friendship, love, and living life to the fullest.

Allie Charles faces a lot of tough situations in her life. She loses some one very dear to her. It's a very trying time for her but the toughest obstacles she has to face is the Big C Word. She fights with all her might and believes and living life to the fullest.

Shelby Martin hasn't always had the easiest life either. She and Allie form a strong bond over softball. These two women have some wonderful fun, adventurous times together. The story of their friendship is a great entertaining read that I truly enjoyed.

I really enjoyed Annette Mardis style of writing. I found she had a nice flow that kept me completely entertained all the way through. She has written a very nice mix of laughter and tears to keep the story balanced out. I had not had a chance to read any work by Ms. Mardis before now I certainly would enjoy reading more of her work.

If you are looking for an emotional read that does a great job of reminding us to look at the best in life, I really think you should give Getting Her Money's Worth a chance. I know I certainly enjoyed it and I hope you will too.

I was given the opportunity to read this book so I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts on this great story with you.

Getting Her Money's Worth by Annette Mardis is life-affirming, j

Getting Her Money's Worth by Annette Mardis is life-affirming, joyfully sad and very, very human. The two friends who make this journey together--one battling the big C--are people we all know. The author's writing style reflects her journalistic background. She fills in provocative detail of setting with a keen eye but never loses sight of the human players. I liked these very real characters. I enjoyed traveling with them, although I knew from the onset the ending wasn't going to be happy. And, yet, Allie's passing wasn't as sad as I feared it might be. Allie lived her life with great passion and--despite being short-changed time-wise--she definitely got her money's worth. My only criticism is the ending stopped a bit abruptly for me. Maybe I needed the closure of a funeral. I would recommend this book to everyone who has known and loved someone with cancer, which is probably everyone on the planet. Debra Salonen
