    Great Book for Learning to Knit Socks

    I've been knitting for about 40 years now, and have knitted everything from sweaters to afghans to Christmas stockings, hats, scarves, etc. However, until recently had only knitted tube socks, which are pretty easy. I've always wanted to learn to knit regular socks so figured I would attempt. This book is great! Everything is written clearly and the directions are easy to follow. I like the idea that directions are given for all weights of yarn. It's a very enjoyable process, and I am now working on my 3rd pair. I'm experimenting a bit with the tops of the socks now rather than just using the usual ribbing. I would recommend this book to anyone who is just starting to knit socks. You can't go wrong with the easy-to-follow directions.

    Fabulous Book for the Beginning Sock Knitter

    After making several scarves for myself and friends, I decided to tackle knitting socks. I intially purchased a different book on sock knitting and really struggled. I ran across Getting Started Knitting Socks at the local yarn shop, and I just finished my first pair. The book is easy to use with clear directions. I really appreciated the photos and illustrations to help me through my first sock. Getting Started Knitting Socks is a clearly written how to book. I've already jumped into working on a second pair of socks because I'm hooked and I feel confident enough to try some of the patterns shown in the book.

    This IS the sock knitting book.

    This is truly the only book you need to learn to knit socks. I tried to "get it" from other sock knitting books but ended up frustrated and not understanding. When I came upon this book in the bookstore, I thought as I perused it that it might work. But I didn't really appreciate the book until I "Got Started". So, if you have gone down the same path as I have, and would like to crack the sock knitting puzzle, I believe you will be very pleased with this book.

    Great Knitting addition

    I was ready to give up on making socks.I had used a couple different books from the library and was shown by a yarn shop owner but still didn't quite get it. I looked knitting socks up on B&N then decided to try this book. Good move! It has great directions. There are lots of great eye catching pictures that show how to or just the finished socks pictures. It also contains a nice variety of sock patterns. There are lots of great "to know" info at the beginning of the book. I would recommend this book to any beginner or someone that just wants a good sock pattern book.

    I Love This Book!

    When I purchased this book, I had only knit a scarf before. I am not a proficient knitter, but I am pleased to say that I just finished my first sock and it looks great. I used a variegated yarn that knits a cool pattern into the sock, but I can't wait to try knitting one of the many cabled patterns illustrated. Don't let intimidation keep you from knitting socks anymore. This book is so sequential in detail that you can't go wrong.

    Great book for making socks!

    This book has wonderful instructions for all aspects of knitting socks. My sister and I took a class on how to knit socks and we had this book with us. The instructor said that this book is the one she would have suggested for us to buy. The directions are very easily understood, the illustrations are very helpful, and the patterns are fun to try. Using this book as a guide, I have now made 2 pairs of socks and I love them!
