This text, by far, has the most practical and effective methods of guiding the students understanding and articulation of latin. The author takes a very gradual approach;each lesson building upon the previous lessons studied. This incorporative and integrated method improves the degree of retention and thus recall. Complementing the text wonderfully, and without any extra cost I might add, is a website. The author provides audio produced tutorials of each lesson while going further in depth for greater clarification of topics being studied. Whether fledgling polyglot or curious monolingual, Getting Started with Latin will certainly award its reader with a greater appreciation for latin in particular and language in general-it has for me. I Highly recommened!

We bought the book for the whole family and every body is enjoying it while making Good progress. The only draw back we have is not with the book but with it on the Nook Color. Some of the Alphabets do not show properly and this has been a bit of a problem for the Kids. I've been in touch with B&N time and time again but nothing has been done :-(. All in all 5 stars for the Book 0 stars for B&N

This book serves as an excellent introduction to Latin, as well as a clear refresher. I like the progression of grammar, instead of memorizing charts and rules, it shows you different words, different forms with each lesson and continuously reinforce what you have learnt. Started with the printed version a couple of years ago, and happy to see the e-version.

I don't know anything about homeschooling, but as an adult beginner I absolutely LOVE this book. There are different approaches to learning anything, including Latin, but this one works great for me. It has saved me much time and effort getting off the ground with what can be a very difficult subject.

I'm so glad I decided to purchase Getting Started with Latin. It's truely a non-intimidating way to learn Latin. The lessons are short and simple. We usually do a couple a day (aside from first day when we did the first five) which seems to be an appropriate amount. My kids (12 & 14) are enjoying the program so far and are eager to do it each day. We're doing it all together so that we can then practice with each other. I appreciate that the pronunciation guide provided on the author's website. It won't take us too long to get through all the lessons in this program. I am grateful that the author offers a follow-up course online...we'll be doing that when the time comes!
