    I Also Recommend:

A great book not just about getting there.. but the amazing journey along the way!

This book had me engaged until the very end. I loved the characters and loved the Michigan landmarks that kept popping up. I will be keeping an eye out for the twin cops as I drive I-75 headed up north. There was just enough suspense to keep me reading, tied together with stories of family and friends and the trials and tribulations of being a teenager trying to grow up to be a somewhat well-adjusted adult - and having fun along the way.

Read "Getting There" by Gerry Boylan

Getting There is a rich and well rounded narrative, rife with observation, insight, humor, poignancy, tragedy, amusing vignettes, compelling characters and mystery. All unfolding during a captivating sequence of events, told in parallel stories by the young "Luke" in 1973, and the mature "Luke", in 2003, entwined through hitchhiking. From the perspective of being a "child of the times", it's contemplative analysis of misspent youth is cathartic, and is an aspect that will touch many from "our generation", although any generation will relate. As well, it is a penetrating study into the insecurities, woes, wonders and joys of companionship, family, marriage and parenting. It is an alluring witty entertaining tale of life, love and hope, that I highly recommend. A most enjoyable peruse!
