Not good if you're first learning

This book was basically 21 chapters of exercises that use data given to you on the CD-Rom. It does not help you figure out how to build maps from scratch. It would have been better if it included chapters on where to find data for your map, how to format the data and what types of files you will need to get it all to work with the software. It basically is one big advertisement for the publisher to showcase the depth of their software. If your looking for a book with teeth that can really train you well on building maps from the ground up with this software, this is not the one.

    Best ArcGIS Book Around

This was a great ArcGIS book for someone with 10 years in the industry who took a little bit of time off. The trial copy on the CD plus additional exercises given was a great help with getting reacquianted with the program. Bravo to the ESRI Press for putting together a great product.

    It just keeps getting better.

This is a very well writter book that teaches ArcView 8.1 with ease. If you know Arcwiew 3.2 it's even easier.
