Ghetto Hymns [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Steve Huey
Dave Hollister's Ghetto Hymns is something of a concept album about the triumphs and pitfalls of love and relationships in the inner city. Of course, that doesn't mean it's always serious or realistic, but what matters is that Hollister knows how to mix hard-hitting beats with his own smooth singing and a number of cameo raps by the likes of Erick Sermon, Redman, Jazze Pha, and Too Short. The result is a record that, while it could have been trimmed a bit, will generally please fans of Hollister's former group, Blackstreet, and of other hip-hop/soul hybrid artists.

This is one of the best albums that I have ever heard I played the cd so much I wore it out and now have to replace it again because I just can not be without this in my collection...you can just put the cd in and listen to every song no skipping or changing or getting bored... I LOVE THIS CD

As deep of a Chi-town brother as they come

I have tall respect for this brother and his album. I was in the music store deciding whether to get R. Kelly or Dave Hollister. I decided to give Dave a chance, due to the fact that R. Kelly gets his respect. You know the more I listen to the album, the more I feel soul and stimulation of a man who writes about what can happen in the urban environment. The track ''We've come too far'' is powerful. I see why he put ''Black Street'' on the map. If I had those vocals I would go solo also. Also ''Don't Take My Girl Away'' is awesome!!!! Hats off to another Chi-town brother putting the city on the map in a positive way.
