    Great Read

I stumbled across this author a month or two ago and have thoroughly enjoyed all three of his books. I recommend this book to anyone.

    LOVED THE BOOK!!

Excellent writing...with some really beautiful passages. My favorite is when you explain why Nathan closes his eyes when he's singing...and his grandmother being on the porch to greet him when he was a young boy. There are five or six paragraphs along with that memory that really touched a chord in me.

Music is such a wonderful part of life and you did a really fine job of capturing that. Thank you.

    Good Read

The story kept you wondering what was going to happen next and there were definitely some surprises but it all came together in the end.

    Like this author...

I found this by accident and really enjoyed it. Thoughtful, fun and a touch of spiritual w/o being preachy. There is an overlap of characters in these books if you are picky about that like I am, but I ended up reading all three of Deasy's books out of order and enjoyed each one.

    Too predictable.

The whole concept of a high school band that was together for only a few performances getting back together after 20 years is too far-fetched. The descriptions of how they magically played together after all those years, and that a major TV network and a major record label were salivating to sign contracts with them was unbelievable. And you knew from jump that the priest was going to give up his vows for his high school love, the little unattractive guy was going to get the gorgeous babe (the descriptions of their fantastic sex were laughable), the adopted girl was going to reunite with her mother (the main female character), and that the town drunk was the rapist. (Of course you guessed the adopted girl was the result of a rape). I forced myself to skim through to the end because I am from western Pa. and did enjoy references to places I know. Only thing I did enjoy.

Im a Pittsburgher loving this book!

So cool to recognize Western PA in the story but even better that this is a compelling story with interesting & believable characters. EXCELLENT writing & a joy to read!
