Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu (1814-1873) Le Fanu was an important ghost story writer of the nineteenth century and had a major influence on the development of that genre in the Victorian era. His works have influenced a number of later writers, including H.P. Lovecraft, M.R. James, Bram Stoker, James Joyce, and Ann Radcliffe, among others.
