Serena awakens from the vivid frightening nightmare where she is being chased by a savage Indian with war paint and a red feather, they are always followed by headaches and near fatal attempts on her life, will her fiance Tony be able to save her?

Serena is terribly frightened as she tries to get away from the savage Indian brave with the war paint on his face and a red feather, running through the dark forest. She awakens to realize it is just a dream, a nightmare, but it seems so real. After each terrifying nightmare she is faced with near fatal accidents. Her handsome young fiance' Tony Villiers comes to her rescue. He suspects these accidents are attempts on the beautiful and wealthy, Serena's life. She is too kind and gentle to have enemies, so who is wanting her dead. Can Tony protect her enough to keep her alive? Or will the Ghosts in the Garden warn her in time. Then there is her vibrant younger sister, Mary, always there to help her when she has her massive headaches, spreading rumors about her fiance, the handsome young Tony. The beautiful setting of the stately Oakley Manor overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. So much history in this area. Tony seems concerned about Tom Vandepool, the young man that tries to persue his beloved Serena. He overhears Tom and Mary in conversation and becomes suspicious of the couples mischievousness. The author transitions back to the sixteen hundreds with the story of Chief White Eagle and his lovely young granddaughter, Neenamashay and Captain Oakes, the story of young love, continuing on to the seventeen hundreds with another love story of Captain Charles Oakes and the lovely Susan Pica. Then we are taken to the eighteen hundreds with another love story between John and Helen Oakes . The author does an excellent job of a smooth transition from the vivid nightmares to Serena awakening to present day. For anyone who has an interest in history or a simple romantic, this is an excellent book published by Dorrance Publishing.
