I enjoyed this book immensely, it was a very engaging read. It also brings to light the problems with society on a small scale and the persecution of those that have different ideas and beliefs.

I realy enjoyed this book it brought back so many memories, some good some bad. I can say that the stories are true. I know of a young man that failed government class that year in 1984. I can still remember the things he taught us that summer, he made the class interesting and fun. I want to thank my Coach in allowing me to believe in myself. You see this ole country boy received his college Degree in 1989.I have a great job and a beautiful Family. Thank God for Teachers like Mr. O'Connor........Coach "O"

I've only read the sample, but that's enough for me. If O 'Connor is such a great teacher, why can't he seem to write a complete, clear and concise sentence? Furthermote, his condescending attitude toward the people of Southwest Virginia grates.

Mr. O'Connor's Read is a must if you live in SW Virginia.

This is a thinly veiled work of fiction. Excellently written; however, the tales told in this book are the truth. This book is written about the town of Honaker, VA and Russell County. The names are barely changed. Anyone who has taught there will recognize the students, and staff, and the stories. Way to go Mike! You had the guts to tell what we saw and were afraid to tell!

This book is like going back in time to me,and seeing now with a refreshed adult mind what I saw as a child in the school I attended in a South West Va.County but didn't understand the depth of the situation, such as the sexual harassment by a few of the teachers and the lies told that were blantenly looked over,as a child you don't grasp the effect it has on life.
I had a teacher like the Coach.
As a child I sat in his classroom and found him to be a man of great wisdom and knowledge,he presented his teaching with an ability to open your mind and enjoy what was being taught.I had great respect for him.He conducted himself in a manner a teacher should.Teaching was exactly what he did.
I could "NOT" put this book down,I felt the disappointment, anger, confusion and pain this charactor suffered, and my heart went out to the Coach,he was a stronger man than I think he realised.
    An EXCELLENT read!!!!

I found this book a reflection of my own teaching experience, the corruption of small town politics, verses a person with honor and actually cared about his students. I am also a Vietnam vet. and went into the educational profession. Guess I am not the only one with a story. Glad Mr. O'Connor wrote it. I would highly recommend reading this book. It is a good read. If you like reading about conspiracies and small town politics; their affects on individual lives, the local education system and other aspects of small town living you'll enjoy this book. Viet Nam vets will be able to relate to this book also.

My son ordered me this book as well as one for himself. The book is very interesting and I find myself making time to read it. If you can relate to small town politics, you can definitely relate to chapters of this book. However, it is saddening that small town politics would be allowed to interfere with the educating of our children. Ghosts of my Mind is one that you will not want to put down. Hopefully, the next publication will be out soon.
