Meet the Author

After spending his youngest years with his nose in comic books and pulp novels, a gift of a portable manual Olivetti typewriter stirred within Ty a desire to fill blank pages with stories of his own in search of other worlds and characters. For decades he penned the occasional short story and portions of novels, allowing the “real” world to keep at bay the calling of the pages and the worlds contained within. There never seemed to be enough time to write.

Eventually the time was forced upon Ty. An extended hospital stay following soon after a loss of employment meant there were no more excuses. The hidden worlds were screaming to be set free, now more than ever.

He decided to focus upon his earliest literary love, the speculative genres, and all they would allow Ty to create and build. Initially not thinking of publication, he created an entire fictional fantasy world, populating it with cities and peoples and religions and a history that continued to grow and grow in Ty’s mind until a cast of thousands across eons of time were wanting to be let out onto the page.

What started as a single novel grew into a trilogy. Once completed, Ty offered the work to his wife for reading. Though fantasy was not her genre of choice, she gave the trilogy its read with the following advice once finished, “This needs to be published.”

Thus began the quest for publication. Several years were spent tempting the traditional publishing market with Ty’s writing. Positive personal messages were received in turn. Enough of those messages were positive that Ty eventually decided he would let the readers decide, thus began the adventure of self publishing.

A couple of years later, having sold more than 60,000 e-books across several formats, Ty continues to write and publish works in the fantasy and horror genres, as well as some literary fiction. He no longer fills blank pages but focuses upon blank computer screens, filling them in search of whatever might lay around the next corner, across the next field, atop the next mountain, or deep within the ocean of our minds. For him, exploration is the key. Discovery is not the end, but a new beginning.
