Meet the Author

Ben Cassidy lives in Vancouver, WA, with his wife and three children. He pursued graduate studies in history for several years until he decided that reading six scholarly books a week was not challenging enough for him, and so switched to being a stay-at-home dad. He has been writing since he was in third grade, though now he is able to bribe other people to do the illustrating for him. He has the uncanny habit of writing of himself in the third person, and is disturbed by how easily his whole life can be summed up in four sentences. Or even five.

This isn't my typical genre, but this book was exceptional! I honestly was completely enthralled throughout the entire book, which doesn't happen often. The writing, for me, was a perfect blend of action, suspense and mystery with humor mixed in. I will definitely be looking for the second book!

180 pages. Enjoyed every bit of it. Swords and adventure. Good story line, interesting characters, and well written. I am looking forward to more from this writer.

Unbelievable that such writing is to be had for free. If your a fan of epic fantasy/fiction you've GOT to get this. The best review on can give is to simply say.."get this, read it. You will love it."

was very exciting, and just enough humor and feeling to keep you interested when the action died down

I really liked this book. I thought that the characters were for the most part well written and believable. Only wish that it was longer. I have purchased the 2nd book an look forward to following the Ghostwalker's exploits.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a fantasy. I didn't care what details were missing to make it realistic because it's a good fantasy. The characters and storyline I liked it all.

Fast-paced and engaging characters

I was hooked immediately. I mean, a man walking a narrow path in the woods talking to his mule? And the punchline is ... ? There was no punchline, the book just took off from there. Epic fantasy. Great characters, except one seemed to show up with incredably good timing with just the right skills without any back-story.  That Almost dropped my rating to a 4.5. With humor, great sword fighting scenes, a great straight man, a touch of mystery behind the protaganist, a budding romantic interest that's progressing at a realistic pace - all of these make for a great read. I've already purchased the next book in the series and I think this "Ghostwalker" theme has the potential to carry on with different characters as the Ghostwalker. The idea of a protagonist who feels atonement must be made for something he felt was not honorable is great motivation for someone who wants and needs to be an honor- able person. If you enjoy the genre, you'll be glad you picked this one to read.

I really enjoyed the first 2 books. I am a little upset that I couldn't find the rest of the set for my nook. Only books 1 and 2.

Truly enjoyed this book. Every once in awhile an author comes along who actually knows how to write. Ben Cassidy is on of those authors. It was a wonderful experience reading such a well written book. Totally error free. Who ever Ho Hum is, they're probably so used to reading poorly written books filled with violence and sex that they don't know a truly well written book when they read one. Page turner with a nice ending but open enough that you want to know more about what happens next in the lives of the characters. I will definitely be reading all of Ben Cassidy's books.

While this is an entertaining adventure, there are some issues. Using a well known author's (JRRT) names is off putting. There were some editing issues. The story starts with one being dropped into the action with no background. The latter may have been deliberate on the author's part in order to give the reader some sense of the character's bewilderment.

Four 1/2 Stars. Except the stats keep blinking out when I submit the review so I have no idea what you'll see. Very good beginning to what I expect will be a closely knit series in a forest and castle kind of setting. And I expect Kendril will fall in love with Jade and there are indications Jade is falling in love with him. The story is well written and, although not wildly new, it is interesting  I will be looking to see what other kinds of  books Mr. Cassidy has written but will probably not get more of this. I prefer SF and mystery. On the big plus side---no sexual activity,  no zombies or werewolves and no cussing
