Overview

Welcome to Ms. Vampira's school, where timid souls are transformed into scary ghouls in the twinkling of a bat's eye. In five interactive spreads, the secrets of what goes on in a school for ghosts are revealed in spine-tingling and humorus detail. Along with pop-ups, hidden panels, and pull tabs there are spooky things a child can remove for even more interactive fun, including a "vampire boy" who spins through the air, a book of spells, and Ms. Vampira's head!

This is the only book an aspiring young ghoul will ever need!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Five double-page spreads offer lots of lift-the-flap, pull-the-tab, spin-the-wheel pop-up action as the reader takes a tour of Ghoul School, an institution of learning for young ghosts and goblins. A removable list of school lunches (including recipes for Smelly Feet Stew and Earwig Tart) and a final report card are included. The artwork is reminiscent of Edward Gorey and Charles Addams. The result is creepy enough for kids who like the darker side of Halloween, but may be too much for the young audience usually attracted to pop-up books. 2000, Harry N. Abrams, $17.95. Ages 4 to 10.
