M. J. Holliday is a psychic with her top skill being a medium who can communicate with ghosts. She gives readings and makes her grateful clients feel good by telling them the truth; unlike the numerous charlatans. She and her partner are also ghostbusters who send evil spirits back to where they came from. They are now on Briar Street, the most haunted street in Scotland. Under the street is the close (several caves and catacombs) where victims were sent to die from the plague. While they are on Briar Road, the interest of the hundreds of spirits make M.J. and her co-worker medium Heath Whitefeather almost insane. Inside the close the same phenomena happens with the ghouls of the plague screaming. They would love to leave immediately, but they are contracted to Bravo TV to film what they find at this location. To make matters worse, the centuries dead witch Rigella who cursed the village of Queen's Close because they murdered her and her sisters are brought back by a villager to murder seven descendents of the families that killed them. When their tech expert is attacked by ghouls, M.J. and her crew becomes the target of a mortal who is in league with the witch because brake lines were cut, which means the witch has a human helper. When another villager dies, M.J. and company investigate determined to find the witch and her mortal assistant. Victoria Laurie is the queen of paranormal mysteries as her fourth ghostbusters whodunit brings the reader into her world (see DEMONS ARE A GHOUL'S BEST FRIEND and GHOULS JUST HAUNT TO HAVE FUN). Ghouls Gone Wild. is a hauntingly good whodunit filled with plenty of action above and below the street. The cast is solid even the spirits while the two protagonists are fully developed especially when the supernatural haunt their senses. With plenty of humor including with a Potter meets Bedknobs and Broomsticks battle of flying brooms, fans will enjoy ghosts, ghouls, and witches, oh my. Harriet Klausner

I enjoyed this book, it is definitely action packed. I'll start with what I'm not fond of, first even though I wasn't crazy about Steven, I think he deserved a little effort in this book. Second I have not been and really don't expect to be a fan of Gilly, I couldn't stand when my kids whined never mind listening to it from an adult. Now that being said what I do like is the addition of John, Kim and Meg, although they didn't have huge parts I think they added some stability to the characters. I like that MJ is strong with touches of fear, that makes her a little more human. I like Heath, I think he needs to put his foot down and stand his ground a little more, but he is likeable enough. I do admit as much as I can't stand Gilly's whining, he did deserve to do some since he seems to be the target of the witches. The mystery was great with lots of twists that kept me guessing as to what was going on, I really stayed on the fence until the reveal. I will definitely continue on with this series.

Ghoul Getters goes international baby! The gang, M.J., Gilley, and Heath are sent to Edinburgh, Scotland, Aye Lass! Everyone on the team is super stoked about going but M.J. because Steven, her love muffin, is unable to go, and they will be there anywhere from 6-8 weeks! Totally bummed, but willing go to anyway, off they fly to the most haunted parts of Scotland. Once the team arrives and settles in their respective accommodations, Gilley finally gets around to showing M.J. the video of the scouted location. This was part of the deal for M.J. as far as pre-approving the scouted locations, but this one fell between the cracks. Upon watching the video, M.J. is horrified by the actions of the Ghost Tour Guide Fergus Ericson! Fergus uses dogs in his tour to show the guests how the dogs' behavior proves his allegations of the area being haunted. The poor pug puppy Fergus was using not only refused to move any further but then Fergus dragged him by his leash through the undesired area. That freaked the puppy out to the extent that he was trying to bite through the leash to get free. My point in telling this part of the story is, M.J. now has a pug puppy! So, now that we are introduced to Fergus, the tour guide, he tells the story of Briar Road. Horrible, horrible, story from the black plague days and how the townsfolk were burned alive along that road to keep the disease from spreading. Below the road are caverns where the sick were sent to live and die, far away from the rest of the town. Nice huh? So there were to be two locations that the team was going to investigate, the caverns, and a Castle, which turned into a bigger pain in the foot then they thought once the witches attacked! I was all kinds of involved in this story for many reasons. First off, animal abuse, dude...NO! I loved the way this problem was handled by M.J. and woo hoo she has an adorable new puppy! Then you have the personal connection of the investigation to Gilley. The witch was exacting her revenge on the descendants of those that killed her, and that included Gilley's clan the Gillespies. It was scary that she was trying to kill him, but for the love of money, it was hilarious how Gilley reacted to his situation! I was just laughing through and through! Poor Gilley, sorry man! Then there was the vivid dream I had the night after I started reading this book! I never have vivid dreams, and this one was just so surreal with Victoria there telling me something was going to happen, and man, could I kick someone in the shin for not writing it down right when I woke up! As we move along in the book, with M.J. unable to connect with Steven over the phone because of his busy schedule and time difference, we notice a change between her and Heath.........NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! DON'T PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I love Dr. D!!!!!!!! OK, in my heart of hearts, I know Heath is better for M.J. and he is an adorable, polite medium, that is sexy and connects better with M.J. but Dr. D is delish! A God! Urgh! Fandangle you Victoria! The next connection I had with this book was the place Edinburgh, Scotland. Just to let you know, I never read or watch the news, it's too depressing! But yesterday I had just opened up my browser, and there was this story in the headlines that caught my eye. It was of a Catholic Priest that resigned in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am a Catholic, tied very strongly to my beliefs and faith, and this news struck me hard, and was especially shocked at where the priest was from. I will not sit and speculate the connection, but just expressing how freaked the Hello Dolly I'm out right now! Last, but not least, the final straw that the broke the camels back, and HAD to give this book 5 Fangs, the oak tree scene. M.J. was experiencing a memory of when she was little and her mother was sick already with cancer. She was climbing this tree to just be able to see her mother through her bedroom window, because her father wouldn't allow her in the room, and she missed her. So M.J. was in the moment of the memory when Heath gently said to her, your mother is hovering right above your head, and I just lost it! Tears were flowing, and I had no idea why I had such a visceral feeling but there it was. When I cleared my eyes to continue reading, M.J. had had the same reaction, and as I read that, I cried again, along with M.J. as well again when Heath said softly its all right. I miss her so much it hurts sometimes. I can't even type it out without tearing up, so therefore I will have to pass on a video review this book. The end of the investigation, and the team is getting ready to leave, M.J. receives a package and is on her way with Heath to retrieve it...oh sheep! The End... WOW! I haven't been in such a scrambled mind duck, emotional slobbering idiot from a book in a while. I don't know if it is that fact that this is the fourth book in a row of Victoria's in two weeks I have read, or if it's because it's that time of the month for me, or the alignment of the planets and the monkeys are hibernating, I DON'T KNOW but you have to read this book, this series, this woman is phenomenal!!

The paranormal story part was quite interesting, but the characters kind of fall flat for me. There are some twists I definitely didn't expect. I think the tv show part of the series might need a few changes. The author is incredibly creative!

Ghoul Getters is just getting started as M.J., Gilley and the gang arrive in Scotland to start shooting. I'm still missing Steven after his departure in the previous book but, unfortunately, we can't always get what we want. Slowly but surely Heath is starting to grow on me. I absolutely adored the M.J. and Gilley relationship in this one and I envy it at times. I hope Ms. Laurie continues to add bits to this as the series progresses. As with the last three I tore through this like there was no tomorrow and I enjoyed it just as much.

I am a HUGE fan of Victoria Laurie! I read her other series on a whim recently and enjoyed them so much I had to get this one too! Her characters are so much fun and make for a very enjoyable read. The plots are very thought out, but fun and funny at the same time. They are easy reads that are truely fantastic. Thank you for these books Victoria and I hope you continue to write more!!
