I read this book in two days, happy to discover this Christian fiction author. If you like Karen Kingsbury or Richard Paul Evans I would definitely recommend this warm Christmas novel.

A light Christmas tale that reminds us to cherish the times we have in life, to let the past go, to enjoy the present and to look to the future with anticipation. The Gift of Christmas Present by Melody Carlson is a heartwarming story of family, with all of their flaws, their secrets and their pain and how one girl’s discovery brings a family together.
Christine has always known her parents loved her, but when her mother died, she discovered she was adopted and began to search for the missing mother she never knew. Certain her search is at an end, she approaches an elderly woman who is most likely her grandmother. Mistaken for someone applying to be a housekeeper, she ends up with a temporary job and has not revealed her real reason for being there. What she discovers is a quirky mix of family members that could try the patience of a saint, yet somehow, they have burrowed deep into her heart. What will happen when they learn of her lineage? What other secrets will be uncovered? Will Christine be welcomed with open arms or has she just begun to realize the mistake she may have made?
Melody Carlson has written a true Christmas tale, not too dark, not hard to follow and filled with characters that are as quirky as they are endearing. A quick read with a few revelations that may surprise the reader, Ms. Carlson has still maintained the Spirit of Christmas!
