The Gift Of Faithby Tadeusz Dajczer, Theodore McCarrick (Foreword by)
The Gift of Faith looks at faith in an unconventional way, yet it is rooted in a sound theology of the spiritual life. It is the fruit of many years of teaching and over thirty years of experience as a spiritual director with a great number of people. This book is a continuation of the discrete deep spirituality that many people desire to have within their lives. With simplicity and clarity the author draws the reader's attention by involving them and awakening their yearning to experience God and to follow a specific path of sanctification.
The Gift of Faith is a constant call to abandon oneself to God according to the evangelical indication, "Unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven" (Mt 18:3). Thus the frequent call to radicalism in Christian faith meets the idea of the New Evangelization that has been continually proclaimed by John Paul II and advocated by our Holy Father Benedict XVI..

This is one of the best spiritual books I have ever read. You can only read a small portion at a time b/c there is so much meaning and contemplation in every paragraph. Speaks about what you need to do in order to love Jesus with your whole heart. Wonderful info on how to handle the gift of suffering and its meaning, recognizing worldly attachments and securities you have never thought of before, poverty of spirit and having a childlike heart, deep down fear or distrust in completely opening your heart, etc. HIGHLY recommend this to any faith.
This book has revolutionized my way of thinking about and perceiving the events of ordinary, everyday life. It continues to help me to recognize God's love in ALL that I experience, especially in the daily struggles of life. It has given me a vision full of hope...hope that rests in God's Merciful Love.
The Gift of Faith is the type of book that never grows old. It is, as if, a user manual for the daily experiences of our lives, helping us to see things through the eyes of faith - through GOD's eyes. It has helped to convince me of GOD's unconditional love and shed new light for me on the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. Since reading this book, I have a new thrill and deep sense of gratitude when I am present at a person's Baptism. The section on prayer was extremely helpful to me, as well as the sections on trials of faith. The language used to describe deep spiritual concepts is easy to read, clear and concise. I am eternally grateful to the Author of this book for putting down into words what my heart was longing to hear about - the unconditional love of an all-powerful GOD!
