Overview

Could an average woman survive being kidnapped and sexually tortured and teased? A case of mistaken identity causes Faith Whittaker to become such a woman, captured and held by powerful drug lord Cordero "El Diablo" De La Fuente, subject to the painful whims of his twisted pleasures. What will happen to her when he discovers she isn't who he thought she was?

Follow Faith's dangerous journey of agony and ecstasy, and the awakening of her darker desires at the hands of a complete stranger, trapped in her gilded cage.

Warning: This story is dark and contains explicit sex, harsh punishments and BDSM elements. If you are looking for a wine and roses romance, this won't fit that description.

Note from publisher: Gilded Cage was originally published in 2010 & this is a re-released version.

The words “spanking” and “discipline” have always sent a shiver up Carolyn Faulkner's spine.

She knows she's not alone.

Writing started as a way to explore her feelings. Soon short stories flowed from her pen featuring reluctant heroes taking the leading lady in hand, but always for her own good.

Today Carolyn is the author of dozens of books. She writes from her home in Maine, where she lives with her husband and leading man.

This is the second book I've read by Ms. Faulkner and I like her writing style, its no holds bar and unapologetic, she gives you an unfiltered look at the BDSM lifestyle. I have read many BDSM themed books and one of the things that I find in common with many of the stories is that BDSM is romanticized before the Hero and Heroine even get into any time of physical relationship; I'm not complaining because I can appreciate it and I like that angle. However, In the story of Faith and Cordero aka El Diablo there was no pretense of love or even liking between these two, it was very raw and not for the faint hearted. If your looking for something pretty and flowery with a little BDSM thrown in to spice it up for you than this is definitely not the book for you. At times Cordero's attitude towards Faith can be gritty and very brutal at times. And some of the things that he does to her are non-consensual, but in defense of the story's plot Cordero is Faith's kidnapper and is not at all inclined to be kind to her, when his whole goal in kidnapping her was to punish her for something her "father" did. This story is pretty heavy on the Sado-Masochism side of BDSM, Cordero is big on the pain aspect he can inflict on his partners in order to reach pleasure for them both. I'm not criticizing this aspect but I am warning those who may decide to read this story about it, and if you are as interested in BDSM as I am and have read other literature outside of fictional stories you will see what the mental and emotional mind set of both Cordero and Faith is as the story develops. And either you can appreciate it or not. Overall I enjoyed the story because it was so "in your face" there were certain things that bothered me but not enough to make me stop reading it. The ending of the story wasn't your typical HEA it left a lot of unanswered questions, well at least for me. But I am also famous for trying to find a realistic if not necessarily a conventionally satisfying ending to story.

Not a bad book but I did not like the ending it was incomplete to me Cordero wasn't a bad guy even though he was a drug lard and Faith she had a little spirit to her both characters were likable but not wow. As i have said the story was ok but i did not like the ending I think more should have been said but that's just my opinion maybe some one else will think different. Everybody has a different opinion when writting a review if we all had the same reviews or opinions it would be boring. Reviews can sometimes down play a really good book or up play a really bad book its up to us to read the book and judge for ourselves and draw our own conclusion thats the best thing about a review its like a silent debate....

WAS HE GOING TO BE DR. JEKYLL OR MR. HYDE Carolyn Faulkner can pen some disturbing tales of erotic horror; some are created in a dystopian world, but this time, it is modern day, Columbia, South America. The details will leave your shuttering as Faith endures torture at the hand of The Devil. If you are looking for a sweet, happy story, this is not it. I will be the first to say this is not an easy story to read; it is dark erotic horror, sadomasochistic, not love, but being possessed by an individual purely for their pleasure, no matter how depraved it may be. Faith was kidnapped, abused, raped, dominated, punished and then he controlled her. The story took me out of my comfort zone, and it is not easy to read of the horrors that Faith will endure at the hands of a drug lord, Cordero "El Diablo" De La Fuente. What starts out as a vacation of her dreams becomes a living nightmare, brought about by mistaken identity. Even when he learns that she is not the person they assumed, Cord keeps her for his sadistic pleasure. A place where he’d found that perfect balance between pain and pleasure, guiding her to it each time, unerringly. Where will it end for Faith? “With everything she’d been put through in the weeks that she’d been with him, bound and unbound, in pain and in ecstasy, this had been the most demeaning, most demoralizing thing he’d done to her so far, and she was terrified that he intended to repeat the incident with some regularity.”

The overview is accurate and what a story! Carolyn did not disappoint and I loved the ending!

A short story of kidnapping, severe punishments, and extreme sexual pleasures. The story of Faith and Cord is a BDSM story – there is a good story behind the sex and punishments and enough development of the characters to help you understand them, even if what is happening in the story is sometimes beyond the taste of some of us.

This story made be cringe ALOT! Faith is kidnapped by Cordero (big time drug dealer) and kept in his compound. There is also a story about mistaken identity; but in the end Cordero does not care. He abuses Faith constantly and she hates him (supposedly). I really like this rough book, but not too thrilled about the ending. It may (to some) have a happy ending, but to me no way! However, still liked it a lot. These characters really came alive for me.

This story deals with a bad case of mistaken identity and all the problems that come with it. This is definitly not for the faint of heart as it deals with noncon and sexual torture.

This was a very dark and troubling story for me. Cord has Faith kidnapped because he thinks she is someone else. He sexual tortures and beats her.I don't think Cord was all bad and he really did start to care for Faith. I think Faith found something she needed from Cord, but was terrified of giving in. I hated the ending to this story it seemed very incomplete to me.
