Want advice on starting my own business

Very encouraging. Some of the ideas are common sense. The book is very organize and motivational.

Like "Entrepreneurs For Dummies" meets "The Women"

I bought this book on a whim since it was on a discount table at my local Barnes & Noble. I'm starting an addition to my current (very small and local) business, and I thought, after flipping through a few pages, that this book might have a few tips I could glean.

I'm very glad I bought it! Not only is it an easy read considering the subject, but the authors made it an easy, fun read in general. I wish I'd had it when I began my business--I'd have done several things differently. As it stands, I'm going to apply many of their tactics--especially financial ones--a little belatedly.

I highly recommend this book to anyone, male or female, who may be considering becoming his/her own boss. This book may wind up telling you what you don't want to know, (that it'll take longer than you expect & a whole lot more money than you'd planned,) but it's worth it.

Great Motivator

I really liked how this book presented the information, the information it contained, and how it inspired me to start the business I had been thinking about.

For Future Entrepreneurs!

This book is so helpful. Full of information. I particularly like the conversational tone that the writers use, which helps a lot with understanding the lingo of the business world. I suggest that you read this companied by a more technical business starter book.

A Book That Makes the Light Bulbs Go Off

The Authors have written a book that forces the reader to ask some necessary questions, but makes it okay to answer them - no matter what your answer is. They propose several questions related to "Should I start my business?", "What kind of business?" and "When?" These issues are basic; however, in my workshops and consulting for woman owned businesses I find that these are ones that women struggle with. This book does not provide all the answers and that's good because the answers are very circumstantial and personal. The "Girls" do a great job with the section on loans, they provide some good information and make it easy to understand. This book does not really stress the "girl thing"; it's more of a female viewpoint of business start up factors. This view point makes it very comfortable, understandable and believable. I personally want to thank the Authors for stressing research. In my years of selling, consulting and working with business development I have seen research make a huge difference in the efficiency, revenue generation and success of woman owned businesses. Chapter 4 - Your Business Plan should be open beside you when you are writing your own Business Plan because it provides some very practical advice and explanations. This book is fun and inspirational, but is also full of realistic suggestions and helpful information.

I love this book. It's entertaining, yet informative. It helped me to realize that I can start my own biz..and I did. It has short stories from both ladies as well as other successful women in various fields. Even though my field is based in the food industry I related to this book. No matter what industry or field you choose you will have to be your own boss as an entrepreneur and this book can help you! Love it!

A Must Read for the Future Businesswomen!

Any future businesswomen must read this book. It is fun, girly, interesting, and inspiring. This book is a great way to start thinking about what all goes into a business. Starting, running and owning a business is not an easy thing but this book lays it down step-by-step. Friedman and Yorio have personal experience and know how to get the job done. This book is a must read for women!!

Ultimate book for practical advice - FROM GIRLS!

This book was a great help in starting my own business! It explains everything from writing a press release to hiring your first employee. I completely recomend this book, it's very easy to read - not stiff and boring! And it's very practical, after all these two women started their own business!

Great tone - helpful, clear, inspiring and realistic. Delivers what you need to do to start a business in the order you need to do it. Practical advise mixed with moxie. Recommended!
