Overview

Third in Mancusi's hip, sassy vampire series, featuring the heroine of Stake That!

She's a vampire. She's also a vampire slayer. (It's a long story.) And now Rayne McDonald, Goth girl, has to carry out her most deviant mission yet: trying out for the cheerleading squad.

Rayne already has enough on her plate: her twin keeps whining about whether or not to go all the way; her mom's boyfriend is moving in; and her man, Jareth, who's now allowed out in the sun, has turned from a dark, brooding hottie vamp into a surfer dude.

But this vampire slayer is still on the clock, and she has a new assignment. A member of the football team has disappeared-and her bosses at Slayer Inc. think the cheerleaders had something to do with it. Now they want her to infiltrate the squad and get the dirt. But first, she'll need an extreme prep makeover. If only they'd let her wear fishnets under that revolting uniform.

    Girls that Growl

This is the third installment of the series. I finished this book in 1 day. The story is well written and the charcters are relateable. In this book Rayne is a Slayer and a Vamp and now is part of Slayer Inc. She sets out to find a cure for her Cheerleader friends (Yes, I did say Cheerleader....you see Rayne becomes a Cheerleader...Goth Girl). Anyways her Cheerleader friends have a dark secret (which Rayne finds out), and she needs to help them before something else happens. With the help of her BF Jareth set out to New England and that is when the adventure begins. You definately need to read this book you won't be sorry. If you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer; then this series is for you.

    Blood Coven Series #3

Once again I loved this book. I kind of felt bad for Rayne in this book because Jareth seemed more worried about himslef than her. I understand that he was having fun being able to out in the sun again but he needed to help Rayne with the whole being a vampire thing. Anyway I think Rayne grew up a lot in this book. I think she learned a lot about herself. I like how Mari can bring different supernatural creatures into the same story and it fit in perfectly. I hope we get to see a lot more of the werewolves in the rest of the books.

    Girls That Growl

Girls That Growl is the 3rd book in the Blood Coven Vampire novels by Mari Mancusi. This one is again in Rayne's point of view. She's an official vampire slayer for Slayer Inc. but she's technically supposed to be in retirement from it now that she's a vampire herself. But Mr. Teifert the U.S. Senior Vice President of Slayer Inc. has other plans for her until the new replacement is properly trained. It has been reported that the cheerleaders at Oakridge High School have been heard growling and the captain of the football team is now also missing. It's up to Rayne to save the day again and boy is that a major challenge! But of course she has her blood mate Jareth and even though he's kind of become a beach bum lately he still comes through in the end and helps her fix this new growing problem. This is a must read!!!

Really good book especially if u like vampires and werewolves :)

girls that growl was really cool and fun to read :) i never thought that werewolves would be involved in the sires. i really enjoyed reading it because Rayne and Jareth finally went on a trip to england together :) it was sad when Jareth broke up with Rayne because she was being mean to him. when Rayne went to the woods with Orphues, i said to myself don't do it Rayne you love Jareth. When she is was in trouble all of a sudden a bat came in i said could it be Jareth?? then there he was trying to save Rayne :) i got really happy when he saved her from the werewolf because i knew he wouldn't leave her alone. :)

Here it goes again for Rayne. Like they say:If it wasn't for bad luck, she'd have no luck at all.So once again being a Slayer,Rayne is forced into doing something that's completely out of character for her to do.Then the unexpected happens to her. And for Sunny??Major desition time for her......Mari has one heck of a imagnation. She's added something you would'nt expect for a vampire book.No words can I say to express how good"Girls That Growl" is.

    Very Good Book!

In Girls That Growl it's in Rayne's point of view. This book is suspensful, suprising, and has a bit of jokes in the dialogue. At the begining I was suprised to find out about the werewolves and at the end it was a little suspenseful, I wondering if Rayne was going to get rescued or not. This book is a wanna read book, I'd recommend it to my friends.

    Another Great by Mari

In the third installment of the Blood Coven series we join Rayne again as something new....A Vampire...A Vampire Vampire Slayer but not only that..a cheerleader???? I know what your thinking Rayne a cheerleader? yeah right! but its true...at least half true, this is all part of another Slayer inc assignment you see someone has complained about hearing growling coming from the girls locker room and two star football players have disappeared without a trace. As if that wasn't enough she has other problems with what seems like everyone who is in her life, her mother's boyfriend is moving in and taking over her room, her sister is whining over and over about if she should go all the way with Magnus, and to top it off her boyfriend Jareth who is now allowed to go into the sun(long story) has gone from dark and mysterious goth vampire to surfer dude and tan! Now she must once again save the day! Can she actually pull it off? or wind up dead somewhere?

Another Amazing book by Mari I could NOT stop reading this.

A Wonderful Book from a 1337 (LEET) Author!

Girls that Growl is an awesome book. Mari Mancusi has done some of her best work on this book. I stayed up until 3am reading this book because I could simply not put it down. There are so many twists and turns in the plot that I was on the edge of my seat (figuratively) the whole time. More people need to read this book because we can't let wonderful fiction go unnoticed. That would just be cruel. Read this book, I promise it's to die for!

Cheerleaders are people to - well sort of.

Rayne must find out whats going on with the cheerleaders - now her slayer mission makes her become a cheerleader. On a deeper level it shows the cheerleaders on the squad as normal - just like everyone else with doubts, insecurities and problems so in that sense I congratulate them but the story doesn't feel all that original. The series seems to be ok, not great but not bad - it doesn't really make you think much and it uses humor to make it a little more entertaining, it's an OK read overall.

Reviewed by Randstostipher "tallnlankyrn" Nguyen for TeensReadToo.com

When we first met Rayne McDonald, she was getting ready to become a vampire, only to have those dreams taken away from her when the guy who was supposed to transform her bit her twin sister instead. Then she discovered that her destiny wasn't to become a vampire but to slay the bad ones. So she then joined Slayer, Inc. to fulfill her destiny, only to have one of her missions bite back -- literally. And the vampire who bit her, Maverick, infected her with a virus, and the only way to be saved was for Jareth to change Rayne into a vampire. But now both are infected, and Rayne is on leave since Slayer, Inc. just can't ruin their image by having a vampire as one of their employees.

The good thing is that Rayne and Jareth can stay in the sun. The bad news is, they are pretty much the weakest vampires out there, physically.

Now back in school, Rayne thinks she doesn't have any problems to worry about. That is, until Slayer, Inc. decides to give Rayne another mission.

Turns out that the star football player at Rayne's school, Mike Stevens, is missing, and the cheerleaders are the suspects, since it seems like they aren't just regular cheerleaders, since regular cheerleaders aren't usually werewolves, too. So now Slayer, Inc. wants Rayne to be a little less goth and a bit more preppy, and to try out for the cheerleading squad, which would makes this the worst mission EVER! Of course Rayne can't deny the mission, since she still has the nanovirus which Slayer, Inc. injected into her bloodstream, and if it were released, the tiny wood inside the virus would go straight to her heart. And Jareth, who is now able to stay in the sun, begins to spend more time at the beach, trying to go from pale to super tan.

This is one story that's sure to keep you one your toes. Although fully satisfying, GIRLS THAT GROWL leaves you thirsty for more.

    an amusing teenage vampire tale

Goth girl Rayne McDonald has the worst of both worlds as she is a vampire slayer who recently became a vampire. Rayne has enough to deal with her Sunny sister, her mom, and their respective boyfriends Magnus and David. Finally adding to her already raging hormonal confusion is her dark nocturnal vampire boyfriend Jareth who has become a Beach Boy surfer.----------- However, now Rayne¿s slayer handler orders her to perform her most dangerous complex mission to date. She must go undercover as a cheerleader in order to investigate the disappearance of two football players that Rayne thought should have been sacked. Apparently the only suspects are the cheerleaders, whom she must interrogate but to the squad members one must letter in sports to be a cheerleader. Using what a teen does best: extortion she gets on the team, but realizes her new teammates are weirder than vampires riding the surf in sunlight without proper lotion.------------ As with BOYS THAT BITE and STAKE THAT!, GIRLS THAT GROWL is an amusing teenage vampire tale starring a fascinating high school student who believes her current assignment is too dangerous as no outsider wants to join the in cheerleader squad. The story line is fast-paced, but focuses on the rain in Rayne¿s life as she has sibling issues, mommy troubles (even lost her bedroom to mom¿s latest boy toy), her own boyfriend tsuris, but worst is dealing with the squad. Young adults will enjoy growling along side of this vampire slayer who has no time left for homework.------- Harriet Klausner

    Need to Read!

Rayne is back and she's ready to please everyone that needs her.... Well kinda... I guess you can say she tries to please everyone. This new Vampire who just happens to be a vampire slayer gets thrown into another assignment while a new slayer is trained. This is not a easy assignment like slaying a vampire, no its much more difficult. She has to figure out where two of her fellow classmates 'which just happens to be on the football team and one of them is her enemy' have vanished to. Who are the suspects? A group of girls Rayne never wanted to talk to let alone become friends with... Cheerleaders. Great right, After blackmailing an ex best friend to let her join the squad, she notices something strange about them. In between trying to save the day yet again, she also has to put up with her twin sister Sunny, who just happens to be confused about weather she should lose her virginity to her vampire boyfriend Magnus, her hot bloodmate Jareth, who just so happen to start to turn from hot goth vampire to beach bum vampire, her Mother who gives up Raynes room for David, her mothers new boyfriend and at the same time she is a newbie vampire! What is a girl to do! This book is a great read for anyone, the humor is witty and fun, Its a page turner that no one will be able to put down.
