Overview

Evie Jamieson, a former wild child, is not only a headstrong, smart-mouthed trouble magnet, she is also a lead singer with a plan. That plan involves relocating her band, including her two best friends guitarist Henry and band manager Mac, to Sydney to kick off their dreams of hitting the big time.

Jared Valentine is the older brother of Evie's best friend Mac and also the man determined to make Evie his. They strike up a long distance friendship which suits Evie because she's determined to avoid the distraction of love, not only because it doesn't fit in with her plan but because twice in the past it has left her for dead. Moving to Sydney however, has put her directly in Jared's path and he has decided it's the perfect opportunity to make his play.

Unfortunately Jared, co-owner in a business that 'consults' in dangerous hostage and kidnapping situations, makes an enemy who's determined to enact revenge. When this enemy puts Evie in his sights, Jared not only has a fight on his hands to make her his own, but also to keep her alive.

Is accepting the love he's so desperate to give worth the risk to both her heart...and her life?

Meet the Author

Kate McCarthy grew up in a small town outside of Port Macquarie, Australia. Raised in a house just a short walk to the beach, Kate enjoyed the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and friendships that come from being raised in a friendly, small town area.
Kate now resides in Brisbane, Australia, a city in the state of Queensland where she works as an accountant, along with a sideline wedding cake business and her writing.
She is married with two children, has two dogs and house in the suburbs, and a pile of friends and family dotted all over the country that help keep her sane.
When she’s not busy running after naughty kids, filthy dogs, crunching numbers, piping buttercream and writing books, you can find her curled up in bed in the early hours of the morning reading new books and re-reading old favourites.

As most of you know I am not into the band books. That is totall

As most of you know I am not into the band books. That is totally Darra's thing. I just wanted to get that out of the way. Now...this book is really freaking good. I love it. Jared and Evie are so sweet. Kinda annoying and stupid in that they are totally made for each other and they should realize it but you forgive them b/c they are just AWESOME! After they meet they become friends through texts and get to know each other. When they do move to the same town it is fun to watch them flip out and figure it all out. I liked that there was a little bit of mystery and action. I also like that Evie doesn't come off as a diva.

You really need to read this book and at $0.99 it is a steal. I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Love it! You have to read Give Me Strength after this (check out the blog tomorrow for my thoughts on that book!)

PS I am a dork and read the whole thing in an Australian accent

    Wonderful story.

I got this book free and I've read so many bad free books lately I didn't have much hope for this one. I'm so glad I took a chance though. This book is amazing. I loved the characters from Jared to Evie to all of the supporting characters. They were so many and I want a book for each of them! This book was well written with only minor errors, a great storyline and amazing characters. I was extemely excited to see that not only is the second book already out but the third is coming out very soon.

    Great reading!!

When I started reading this book I had my doubts, but I decided to give it a chance and I'm so glad I did. Honestly, I thought the characters might be a little too "young" for me. Despite the fact that the heroine in the book is a "rock star," she was very relate-able. Everyone was gorgeous but I was okay with that. We have to make our fantasies desirable, right?

Ultimately, it was the author's sense of humor that reeled me in and made me appreciate the characters more. It was a fun story with a fair share of drama and suspense, even some surprises. This is my first reading of Kate McCarthy and I look forward to more of her writing. She made me laugh out loud a few times and there were some things I just had to share with whoever happened to be nearby at the time. I highly recommend this book (if you don't have an aversion to coarse language).

    Give Me Love

Well written.... That was the only thing I liked. Every single character is obnoxious. Jared was a stage 5 clinger, it got weird for me pretty quick. The birth control pill conversation with the whole house absolutely irked me and I almost stopped reading. There is absolutely no privacy between any of these people; they all stick their noses in everyone elses business. I could not stand Mac, the best friend, at all; she needs Midol. And the back and forth between Jared and Evie's "relationship" gave me whiplash.

    Good read...

..but hard to follow at times due to cultural differences(I'm American and author is Australian) but not enough to keep me from finishing. Liked that story was wrapped up and main characters were not perfect but very realistic. Would recommend

    Really terrible

This book is horrible. It is filled with cursing, name calling and every vice known to man. It is about a trashy rock star and her trashier friends. Skip this one. I wish I had. .99 cents. About 350 pages of garbage. Bad, really, really bad.

I really like this book and the writing. I liked that it was a romance and suspense of who was after Evie and the love that Jared has for Evie. How everyone is family and friends. I did have to look up what a Helix car was. Worth the read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Evie is a rock star - figurative

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Evie is a rock star - figuratively as well as literally. Her band is on the way to making it big and has decided to move cities in order to further the band's visibility. That move puts he in town with her best friend and band manager's family - including her HOT brother Jared, who leaves Evie speechless every time she sees him. While her job puts her front and center in the spotlight, his has a tendancy to him in the middle of firefight on a semi-regular basis. This is their story as well as the band's as a whole. This book really had everything in it from love and puppies, to kidnapping and sacrifice. Twists with a twist, banter in the household and a female lead role in a band of men had me continually turning the pages and disappointed when I got to the last one. I look forward to reading additional books with these characters.
