This book made me think. It's a crazy situation for the heroine. I felt really sad for her, but then everything was so erotic and she handled it really well. This is going in my pile to reread. This story is a surprise from start to finish.
First book like this that I have read. It was an interesting and good story. I enjoyed a plot along with the erotic romance.
This wild and complicated romance/dystopia really surprised me. I half expected a smut-fest, sexy free-for-all but I was so mistaken - and delighted by what I found instead. This futuristic story takes place after a plague wipes out a large proportion of the female population. The government's response is to take all the fertile women and girls into custody and offer them up, in lotteries, to carefully screened groups of men as appropriate breeding stock. The problem is, they all remember how it was before. My heart went out to these wonderful characters. Their emotional responses to their difficult situation were spot on. The jealousy, possessiveness, desperate longing to have a relationship, a simple date with a woman they could care for, was beautiful. She also did an excellent job of weaving the political unrest into the background that these policies provoked. This was a multi-layered story and yes, there were steamy scenes too, but those alone aren't why you should read this very thought-provoking book. I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow talk about steamy! Ashlynn pens "Given" in an actual story line which is rare in erotic books. Her characters are interesting, hot and plenty! A great erotic dysopian tale which will keep you turning the pages. This review is based on a complimentary copy from the author which was provided for an honest review.
