The 26 pieces in this anthology depict sexual encounters among femmes, lesbians stereotypically feminine in their appearance and manner. The selections include short stories and fictionalized fantasies taking place everywhere from a lingerie shop dressing room to an S&M club to an ex-stepmother's bedroom. The stories introduce characters quickly, moving on to detailed descriptions of the physical fulfillment of the women's deepest desires. Most of the narratives are contemporary, but Tulsa Brown's historical piece, "Mercy's Pocket," about two women performing in a 1931 Harlem nightclub, is a richly textured standout.
