Global Hits 2002

All Music Guide - Jason Birchmeier
Something of a Now That's What I Call Music! for dance rather than pop music, Global Hits 2002 features a CD's worth of the most popular dance songs in 2002. All of the songs appear in radio-ready edited format, allowing Universal to cram a total of 19 songs onto the CD, including these highlights: iio's "Rapture Tastes So Sweet," Roger Sanchez's "Another Chance," Daft Punk's "One More Time," and Craig David's "Re-Rewind." The other 15 songs are undoubtedly hits, though not quite in the same echelon, at least in North America. In fact, that's partly the problem with this collection -- though these songs are all international hits particularly in the U.K., you wouldn't know that if you lived in North America, where only the aforementioned four highlights made much of an impression on mainstream consciousness. However, all of the songs here are great; there's no questioning that, assuming, of course, that you like the poppier and more accessible side of dance music. For those who like their dance music a little more challenging and innovative, this is definitely not the place to look; these songs are pure pop, most of them featuring vocals and some sort of memorable hook. After all, the songs are hit songs for a reason. As an added bonus, the collection is mixed DJ-style, resulting in a more continuous listen.

    Where's The Party At?

lobal Hits 2002 couldn't be a better compilation! Grabbing all the latest hits that have struck Europe in the past year, this compilation is a jewel. You will probably be familiar with IIO's sweet voice in ''Rapture'' as well as ATC's ''Around the World'' which hit America in a big way. The album does a wonderful job at mixing trance with house and disco hits to dance your way into the late hours of the night. Oh yeah, Daft Punk's ''One More Time'' is also part of this compilation, and you know things can't go wrong with critic darlings and house heroes Daft Punk on the bill. Definitely check out this compilation and get ready to groove, dance and party!

Poppy But all the Sam Pretty Cool

Being a DJ, I have to play a lot of different songs. This compilation is a whole bunch of the more popular ones that people ask for. IIO¿s real popular and that ATC song ¿La La La La¿ (yeah THAT song) is on there which everyone usually asks to play at clubs. Daft Punk and Craig David are on there too which adds to the quality of the album. There are a bunch of no names (at least here in the US) like Sylver and Roger Sanchez that also put out cool songs. It does get unbearable towards the end of the CD but the rest of it is actually pretty cool and well worth the money. It¿s something fun to pop in to the player when having a silly party.
