Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Wells is a member of the New Internationalist Cooperative (NIC), and her cookbook reflects her concern with world hunger and other problems faced by developing countries. She has worked and traveled throughout the Third World, and these are recipes for some of the foods she encountered along the way, either her own versions or those contributed by other NIC members. The author's dedication and passion are apparent, but unfortunately she is not particularly knowledgeable about food and cooking, and some of her notes are uninformed or occasionally inaccurate. Recipes are organized by course and by country; but a total of 200 recipes for Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East means that, for example, India is represented by only one recipe in Starters, China by two in Vegetarian Main Courses. Not a necessary purchase.
