I am a second year medical student with a great devotion to the blessed virgin mary. St Alphonsus, a great doctor of the church, a bishop and founder of the congregation of the most holy redeemer has used his great intellect in penning his love for the virgin mary. This is an all time classic, in very readable form. The reader is taken on a marian theological journey, combined with methods of cultivating a simple devotion to her. St Alphonsus's approach to such an intricate theme is beautiful and shows what a favoured son he is, blessed with grace.
