A very helpful book for anyone, especially someone new to having to eat without gluten! She writes clearly and with a zippy sense of humor which helps. There is a lot to learn and she provides a great variety of ways into the subject.

Most of my social activities revolve around food. Once diagnosed as gluten intolerant I wandered around my usual market stops in a numbed state, bleary eyed from label reading. My worst fear was that all of my relationships would change and my love affair with food was over. I bought a few books, all helpful, but this is the one that gave me comfort and helped guide me in how to preserve my dining centered relationships. While I cannot expect to enjoy the same treatment as the author while dining out,(becaue of her celebrity and expertise), her advice with ordering is interesting. I particularly enjoyed her Thanksgiving Dinner story. I could feel the love.

In early November of 2006 I received my Celiac diagnosis and soon to followed was the testing and positive diagnosis of my 2 small boys. This book helped me quickly get up to speed on what I needed to pay attention to, the foods I needed to be aware of, their respective 'Gluten Free' replacements and much, much more! Trust me, my head was spinning and right before the holidays. The Gluten-Free Bible was just that, my bible that I religiously followed with much success!

I am glad I stumbled onto this treasure. This book and The Gluten-Free Nutrition Guide have been big helps to me in traversing the world of Gluten-Free. Before I read these books, the GF world was taste-free, worrisome, dangerous, and confusing. OK, some of it is still rather confusing, but not so scary and I haven't accidentally "glutenized" myself like I was before. The section on additives was very useful and the basic rules are good reminders on how to take this all with a smile. I know that much of this information is on-line but my schedule doesn't afford me time to look around on-line like many people keep telling me to do. In addition, it's difficult to know what sources are accurate. There is so much misinformation out there. I value the information presented as well as the useful reference tools included.

Terrible! My sister was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and there is a strong chance that I may have it as well. I wanted to read about it to learn more and was told that this book was a great place to start. Unfortunately, I found the book to be poorly written and with the most bizarre suggestions; how to write your family a Christmas letter, informing them of the diagnosis. Come on! There are other instances that I felt it was just a little over the top and was not realistic to everyday life. Since finishing this book, I began reading Elizabeth Hasselbeck's book, The G-Free diet and have found it to be much more informative and much better written. Ms. Hasselbeck's book gets right to the point giving you the information that you really need to understand this disease.

This book presents the information with a great attitude, unfortunately the information is all wrong and plain old dangerous to anyone new to the disease. Jax needs to get serious and pay attention to the finer points of a gluten free diet. Corss contamination is a worry to anyone living gluten free and it should be to Jax too.
