Gluten-Free Bread for Beginners is a no-nonsense guide to making

Gluten-Free Bread for Beginners is a no-nonsense guide to making the gluten-free lifestyle manageable.
The book is mainly comprised of two sections: the first section contains the recipes and the second provides information on making the gluten-free life style work.
The wealth of its 75 recipes are found in its first 4 chapters, which are also divided into different sections, such as Savory Breads, Sweet and Sumptuous Breads and Flatbreads and Muffins.
There are many delectable recipes to drool over, such as seeded honey bread and chocolate carrot bread. Indeed, it does seem like “all sorrows are less with bread”.
Finally, chapters 5-8 provide the more nitty-gritty information of making the switch to gluten-free, as well as advice on the challenges involved in the process.
All in all, this was an informative and worthwhile read.

If you're thinking of going gluten-free, get this book first. The information and directions are solid and the breads sound delicious. But even as a gluten-free dieter, I can't imagine baking these recipes. Too many special tools are needed and the warnings are discouraging. And the ingredients are not accessible. It's a great book, but definitely not for beginners. I'll just take the store bought products after all.

From healthy takes on classics like cinnamon rolls and banana bread to creative concoctions like zucchini bread and chocolate carrot bread, Gluten-Free Bread for Beginners contains seventy-five treats to delight the gluten-averse palette. Ingredients like chia seeds and quinoa might be new to some and the book does a good job of introducing readers to them. Before each respective recipe is a descriptive paragraph relating what they might taste like, what the ingredients combine well with, and a few factoids about their health benefits. While some items might be hard to find at your local grocery store (e.g. coconut flour, garbanzo flour, etc.), they are worth it for the flavor profiles and textures they imbue.

I’ve known people who suspected they had a gluten-intolerance but they didn’t want to take the month off eating delicious foods to find out for sure.  This cookbook of gluten-free breads allows people to cook all the delicious bread products they could desire, all the while keeping them gluten free.  Life without soft warm bread is certainly a challenging one, but this cookbook by Shasta Press renders that life no longer a necessity for those with celiac disease.  5 stars.
