I purchased this almost a year ago. I have tried reading it 2 times.. Its a very boring read, much like a diarie. Not the least bit interesting, only the mentions of the local area. As of now its in my donation box, partially read. While I can relate to the process of relearning to cook and eat with celiac, which I have, I found other books to be much better.

I absolutely love this book for both its diary-like entries and love story. It allows people an easy introduction into gluten- free eating and empowered cooking. Since reading the book i have become a blog follower of shauna's and can' t get enough. Thanks for a great easy read for the cold winter months.

If you are thinking about embracing a gluten-free lifestyle, I HIGHLY recommend Shauna's book. She delightfully takes you on her journey to gluten-free-ness. She is thoughtful and witty. Her style of writing makes this book a take-along-to-the-beach or a read-on-your-lunch-break kind of book. :)

First of all, this writer obviously imagines that she is so much better and smarter than I am that I was turned off immediately. Secondly, she spends half of the book mocking the food her parents served her as a child. Okay, WE GET IT...You ate the same diet we all did. Fine, they did they best they could. Thirdly, her recipes are ridiculously ill conceived, sloppy, and difficult. I am interested in a book with recipes that will never fail. I have tried every bread recipe in this book twice and each time I have met with disaster, and I am an experienced baker. Don't waste your money. Also, if you are charmed by adolescent outpouring of The Great Love she shares with her husband you will adore this book; however, I simply turn to my 8th grade diaries when I feel the need to read gushing descriptions of perfect love.

I could totally relate to this book. Her life with Celiac's disease (undiagnosed) was remarkably parallel to mine. Her passion for food and travel took away some of the scary part of being gluten free for me. She got me up and cooking. I am now a fan!!
