Overview

An engaging book that brings new relevance to the old proverb “Give and you shall receive”

The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be. And so one day, desperate to land a key sale at the end of a bad quarter, he seeks advice from the enigmatic Pindar, a legendary consultant referred to by his many devotees simply as the Chairman.

Over the next week, Pindar introduces Joe to a series of “go-givers:” a restaurateur, a CEO, a financial adviser, a real estate broker, and the “Connector,” who brought them all together. Pindar's friends share with Joe the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success and teach him how to open himself up to the power of giving.

Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving—putting others' interests first and continually adding value to their lives—ultimately leads to unexpected returns.

Imparted with wit and grace, The Go-Giver is a heartwarming and inspiring tale that brings new relevance to the old proverb “Give and you shall receive.”

    How Business Should Be Done

A great little read, The Go-Giver is a guide to how to truly be successful in any business by first lending support, expertise, information and connections to others. A must-read for anyone new to the workforce, returning to work, new to a management position or anyone just looking to renew their faith in the business world.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of this book though the message was powerful. It is a valuable book in reminding us what is most important in life and that being successful in business is a lot more than making money. I would recommend this book highly and have given many copies to friends and clients. enjoy.

    Problem with the Sample Download

It only includes 3 pages, none of which are actual content -- just reviews. It sounds good. I wish I could have seen enough to decide to buy it.

    The Go-Giver...don't miss this one!

I read this a couple of weeks ago and was so impressed with the storytelling and the clarity of the simple yet life-changing message that I bought a bunch of copies for my management team and sales force from B&N.

    Definitely worth the read!

Must read! It's up there with "Who Moved My Cheese?"

Bob hit the nail on the head! I's about what we "give" in life, not what we "get". Like "Who Moved My Cheese", it teaches principles by telling a story. It is the story of a salesman who is a "Go-Getter" and learns to be a "Go-Giver". I also attended one of Bob's seminars and purchased his "Endless Referrals" CD series. He has a lot of wisdom to share. I have put his principles to work with great results. I have given his book to a number of people as gifts, and it makes a wonderful present.

    Good Message

I liked the book and found the message appropriate. The law about "giving more than you take in payment" is absolute for anyone in nearly any profession. If you value what you give more than what you receive you have gone a long way in being successful. The really good books in my library stick with me. While I liked the book, the message seemed to leave me a week or so after I read the book. Do really absorb this book I would recommend a highlighter and occassional revisiting. It's a good message, but I need to remind myself of it. It does not change me immediately like some other books have.

    A Powerful Example of Mentoring

Bravo Bob Burg and John David Mann! The Go-Giver has become required reading in my organization and at the top of my recommended reading list for clients. I am passionate about mentoring and networking. This powerful little story blends those disciplines beautifully. The "Five Laws" unfold brilliantly, and I found myself becoming quite attached to the characters - especially "Old Man Pindar." This book resonates!

Life¿s Instructions, Review of ¿The GO¿GIVER¿ by Bob Burg & John David Mann

I have the privilege of just finishing the outstanding book, ¿The GO ¿ GIVER¿ and can not even begin to share with you the immense value of this book and its potential effect on your life. People are always looking for an instruction book on life and I propose this is one of those valued and sought after books. If you¿re not dumbfounded by the insight and simplicity of the message contained in this book then you need to read it again, uninterrupted.

This book is written in the same manner as the world famous book by John Milton Fogg, ¿The Greatest Networker in the World.¿ You have the distinct feeling that you are a fly on the wall of the man, Joe, who is on his journey of self discovery far beyond what he anticipated or even knew what he was searching for in life.

The book is jacketed in a brilliant red cover embossed with a beautiful gold image of Mercury of Greek Mythology. There are 131 pages and you must read the inside jacket of the covers as well as the acknowledgments on the last page. Every page is a joy to experience in this quick read book of life¿s true secrets to success.

I am not able to divulge much about this book and any iota of information on the subject matter may give away a very important aspect of this book¿s content and quite possibly ruin some aspect of reading it for you. I know I would not want one to do that to me either in book or movie. This is a book that must be experienced as its impact will be unique to each reader and can not be broad brushed to all of the public.

The ultimate success of this book is based upon the presentation of the subject material, the plot to which it is encompassed, and the truths that are revealed throughout its cover. This is a book that must be read, I would suggest at least twice, and ironically would not translate into a good movie as I believe many of the key points revealed to us would be overlooked or missed completely in its presentation.

No, this is a book best read in one sitting, if possible, undisturbed, either very early in the morning or late at night for the full impact. I highly recommend this book and would also suggest it be given to teenagers in high school, college students, and all new employees and entrepreneurs. Buy it for yourself, share it with others as a gift, and enjoy the whole experience.

    Outstanding & Inspirational

Quick read size with a big book message! We can all recite a version of the 'Laws of Stratospheric Success,' but these characters show us how to achieve this type of success ... with honor, ethics and ... giving. These lessons are so natural, everyone should be a Go-Giver! This is a book that will have a place in everyone's heart for years to come.

    An Elegant Business book

This book is ingeniously neat, concise and satisfying as the dictionary discribes elegant. I was moved to realize that everything we give adds to our value in the world. The story is so wonderful I just couldn'd put it down!

There are many books out there that can move you, and this one certainly ranks up there with the best. This short, quick read, is jam packed with extremely valuable and more importantly USABLE ideas gently woven into an engaging parable that will leave any reader wanting more. When I finished, I had renewed vigor for what i will be doing with my business 'and personal' life in the coming year and beyond. The message here is simple, but timeless. I encourage ANYONE who is interested in bettering themselves or helping the journey of others to do the same to pick up this book...I just wish it was longer, and I mean that!
