Overview

Celebrating some of the world's great soccer powers, Goal: World Soccer Anthems contains multiple songs from the countries of England, Italy, Argentina, Germany, and the U.S. (um…), as well as national anthems from Ireland, the Netherlands, Brazil, Japan, France, Spain, Mexico, and Sweden. The tracks are all of a classical nature, which might explain why Brazil only gets its anthem instead of one of the great sambas written about futebol (and there are plenty), but everything included has that majestic, celebratory feel about it that makes people stand up and take off their hats. There are a few strange choices, "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" in the U.S.'s slot for example -- shouldn't that be an Austrian song, if anything!? -- and while Goal: World Soccer Anthems is not an incredibly exciting album, it does represent many of FIFA's stars.
