Overview

"This award-winning series features Abby, an aspiring veterinarian who desperately wants a pet but lives in a "no pets allowed" apartment building, and her younger sister, Tess. The girls go into the pet-sitting business and discover new things about animals and new ways to solve problems.
In Goats Don't Brush Their Teeth, Abby can't wait to spend a week at her grandmother's farm. There's a new animal to take care of, not to mention her own bedroom free from her annoying younger sister, Tess. But despite her new freedom, Abby begins to wonder where Tess disappears to very day, and why things around the farm keep going missing. As the mysteries slowly reveal themselves, both sisters learn that keeping secrets can sometimes be more trouble than it's worth."

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Abby and Tess are back for another adventure in the "Abby and Tess Pet-Sitters" series. School is out for the summer, and Abby and Tess are restless. When Tess's renewed canine antics have Abby's nerves frazzled, Mom announces fantastic news—the girls are going to stay with Grandma for a week. There, Abby and Tess have their own bedrooms and a new baby goat to name. The girls argue only minutes after arrival, however, when Tess finds and "reads" Abby's super-secret diary. Shortly thereafter, Tess starts disappearing for hours at a time and strange things happen¾Grandma loses her gardening glove, Abby's favorite pen disappears, and the goats keep getting loose. Abby decides that it is time for answers when the goats escape yet again, only this time they are found standing in the middle of a busy road. She secretly follows Tess, discovers the truth behind the missing items, and finds out that maybe keeping secrets isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Elementary school age children, particularly those with siblings, can identify with this entertaining tale of mischief and humor. The story is engaging and its moral is simple—keeping secrets can hurt those closest to you. While this book will not win a Newbery Award, it would be an excellent choice as a read-aloud story or as an addition to a classroom library. 2002, Lobster Press,
